I do dump but not as much as I used too. And the funny things is different things would make it happen.. not just sugar.. but chinese food, zuccini ect... my chest does not hurt but my heart will pound and I get the foamies and feel like Im dying. Its been a long time since Ive thrown up (thank god) next time it happens try to LAY DOWN... I swear it will make it pass faster.. Im sorry it happened to you and best of luck!!!
I am wondering if what you went through was maybe having something get stuck.
When I have had something get stuck it feels like I am having a heart attack a very uncomfortable feeling in the middle of my chest.
When I dump it is usally a race to find a bathroom quickly.
What ever you experinced will make you not want to have it happen again.

Dumping is different for each of us, but usually involves diarrhea rather than throwing up. It's when too much of something enters our bowels, or when we eat too much too quickly. There is usually some nausea, sweating, heart palpitations, etc. The intense pain you describe is more consistent with something being stuck.
Either way, I hope you don't have to experience that again.
Take care.

The foamies are always short and sweet with chest pain and a over full feeling. Relief is instant after I up-chuck the offending chunk. I know TOOOOOOO MUch information. So remember.....eat slow and chew, chew, chew.
Good Luck and I hope you don't have this happen to you again any time soon.

Hi Cindy,
While what you experienced was undoubtedly uncomfortable and not something that you want to do again, it wasn't dumping. It sounds like you ate too much, too fast and got it stuck... and it doesn't take much to make that happen this early on. You might want to get some small demi-tasse spoons to use for a while because they are normally only about a 1/2 teaspoon in size to help you regulate the volume of what you are consuming. I know it might seem silly, but even with something like cream of wheat try to 'chew' 20 to 30 times. This allows the saliva to help mix with the food make make it more 'liquid.' If you don't you can have issues with it getting 'stuck' and that is what it sounds like happened to you. The reason that you are having a hard time with things getting stuck so easily right now is that your pouch is still VERY SWOLLEN. With time, the swelling will go down and this will become less of a problem, but it takes a number of weeks for the swelling to go down... so, go very slowly. This is a trial and error thing and it will take some time for you learn how much and what your baby pouch can handle. As it heals and matures, it will be able to handle more.
