How long until your stomach healed?

I just got off the phone with Dr. Miles office and he wants to see me tomorrow because I still have drainage from my sites and have to keep them covered up. I ask the nurse if this was normal and all she said is he wants to look at them. So was wondering how long everybody had to wear bandages over their sites.

I was fortunate enough to be able to avoid the dreaded drains with my RNY. I did have some steristrips covering my incisions and was required to allow them to naturally slough off.

I did have a drain when I had my gall bladder removed after Sarah's birth and I think it was removed a couple of weeks post op, but it's been sooooo many years that the memory of the timing associated with that is a bit fuzzy.

Barb I don't have drains and I had the steristrips too and they have came off but I still have a couple of  sites that's bleeding or whatever it is.

I had one that took a long time to heal and seemed to 'ooze' for a while ... maybe a month. It also looked more angry/red than the other sites for longer. Eventually, however, it did heal and now you probably wouldn't notice it... You'd notice my crinkly stretch marks first. LOL

The day I came home from the hospital I could shower...and I never had to wear any dressings or anything.

i stopped draining after the second or third day. i think it just depends on skin type really... everyone is different!

Well I went to the doctor today and he said the sites were healing and that because I was diabetic that it was going to be slow and also I'm down 23 lbs.
