SCARED!!
Lisa
88lbs. in 5 months is AWESOME!!! You are doing fine!! You have now officially reached your slow down point :( and it stinks, I KNOW!!!
I was losing 20lbs. a month for the first 5 months after that, it has come to a screeching halt and I now lose 10lbs. per month for the last 2 months!! The last month, i only lost 9...UGH 1lb away from 10!! I think our bodies have kind of gotten over the initial shock of change and they are starting to become a little more laid back with our weightloss now!! I too can eat plenty of food, much more than I would have thought possible, but that is OKAY!!! Just listen to your body and at the first sign of feeling full, STOP! I still everyday eat my meals on a small salad plate and aim for 21 grams of protien or 3oz. of meat and 30 grams of carbs, as suggested by my nutritionist!! Im not sure who your nutritionist is, but I have Katrina Seagrave, she works with Dr. Pender, actually she is an author of the book "Life After Gastric Bypass" Sometimes I can eat everything on my plate and sometimes I cannot, but just think how much less we are consuming now, compared to what we were before!! I still feel like I can eat alot for having had the surgery, but I really break it down and it is nowhere near the amount I was able to eat before :) And at my 6 month follow up, i told Dr. Pender how much I could eat and he said that was fine!!
So just keep up your exercise and know that you are NOT alone, cuz Im sailing right along with ya!!! LOL
And you are doing fantastic!!!
Hi Lisa,
You are doing very well. As Jaime said, it's normal to slow down about now, but the losses will continue. You also are able to get more into your pouch now that the swelling is gone. Be sure that you are measuring the volume of what you are eating. The guidelines that Jaime mentioned are very close to what I still do, so check with your nutritionist. I always lead with dense protien, followed by complex carbs. Be sure that you are following the rules of the pouch and aren't drinking 30 minutes before, during or 30 minutes after meals. Stay away from slider or crunchy, crispy foods, and continue to avoid high fat, high carb foods. The weight will continue to come off, it's just going to be slower now. My weight loss continued past one year and it's not uncommon for your weight loss to peak somewhere between 12 and 18 months.
I found a website the really helped me realize that while I may not have been losing as fast I "thought" I should, I was doing much better than I gave myself credit. I hope it helps you see that you are doing well too. The site is www.thinnerself.com. Go to the button that says 'chart weight and inches' and plug in your information. I'll bet you'll be pleasantly surprised.
