We're home...

Rex & I had a wonderful time... The trip up was beautiful, the trees are all changing colors and it didn't rain on us... we chose the right weekend to go since we heard it rained here all day on Saturday.  My Sister took care of our animals, I'll have to tell you that story another time - I should have known it would've been an adventure for her (and the cats, chickens and ducks)... lol!  Anyway, we stayed at the Linville Falls Lodge/Inn and it was very nice.  We went to the Caverns first, it was so pretty inside, all the stalagtights and stalagmites (however they're spelled) were cool looking and there were even some trout swimming inside the cavern - who would have thunk.  Anyway, the tour guide was funny and had a lot of information.  After that we went gem mining at the Emerald Village Mines.  We had actually stopped at another mine but when we went up and talked with the owners we felt real weird about being there.  So I listened to my gut instinct and we decided to check out another one.  The Emerald Village Mine was very open, the employees were helpful and very down to earth.  We had a good time and actually found some nice gems.  We had one of the stones cut into an oval for a necklace (I can't wait to get it in 8 to 10 weeks).   After that we decided to check out the restuarant next to the lodge, it was yummy, then we turned in, it had been a long day.  We hit the road again this morning, heading to the falls - finally!...  First we went to breakfast down the street, it was good as well and filled us up to the brim.  We finally made it to the falls, it was so beautiful and too much to see in one day, so we'll have to go back (probably next fall).  Anyway, this has turned into a long post... sorry!!!  But it was just such a good time.  Lots of walking but great!  Oh... I posted pics also... take a look!

Sounds like y'all had a blast. I know it was beautiful. Glad you found a nice stone for a necklace that will make a nice memory of the trip for you. By the way, the pics are great! You guys make a cute couple!

Awww thanks Lisa...  Rex is a sweetheart!  I am very blessed to have him in my life!  You never know who you're going to find in your back yard.  Anyway, I don't think I'll ever forget this trip, it was very short but so much fun!

WONDERFUL photos!!  And I finally get to see Rex!  What a handsome man!  And you are looking great too!  Have you been losing weight since I last saw you?  Thanks for sharing the photos with us!

Hey girl...  I think he's handsome...  hehe!  But then again you haven't seen him when he's all skraggly and hasn't shaved in a few days... lol!  Gotta love that man of mine!  Anyway, we had a great time and we can't wait to go back but next time we want to spend more than 2 days there.  As for my weight, it has been a while since I saw you last...  I lost 8 lbs while I was at the hospital with my Sister last month, but just maintained since then.  I still want to loose about 20 more to get back to my goal.  I feel great though and have a lot of energy still, so if I don't loose it I'm fine with that too...  Hopefully we'll be able to get together again soon!!!

Hi Sheryl,  Old friend Frank here.  We used to work together.  Nice to see you are doing well.  I had surgery Oct 24, 2007 and have gone from 387 to 196,,, BMI from 53.9 to 27.3.   Thanks to all of you who went before me I finally got the guts to do it.  Heard Amber is also doing fine.  She deserves it.  She has so much to offer in her life.  Be seeing you soon, will stop by dispatch one day to visit.  Take care Frank.
