I got my surgery time for Mr. Gallbadder and Friends

I called and really thought I was going to have a super late time since I JUST saw Dr. Mann on Friday and got sent to the patient testing center that Friday. I was praying for a early time even though they do hundreds of operations a day and I didnt want to sit around all day thirsty and being a witch with the staff I am happy to announce that Im first up on deck and have to be at Pitt at 5:15 surgery at 7:00 Now if you can all send my Veins some good thoughts.... Im actually already worked up over the upcoming IV start... after all the trauma Ive had in the past with them Im praying a really good RN can come in and stick me one time in the hand and be done with it. It actually gives me panic attacks and makes the veins hide even more when they start digging and grunting because they cant hit my veins. then they get attitudes with me because YES it hurts and YES it is just as frusterating for me as it is with them, but its not my fault that my veins suck and they cannot do their job. I CAN start my own IV but they wont let me.. yep Ive already asked
Anyways Im off at 3:30 am from my house with my friend Pam who is going to drive me home. Have a great rest of the weekend everyone!!

I am SO grateful you have someone to go with you, Sweetie.  I will pray that the baby veins cooperate and if anyone gives you any **** just call out for me and I will come tell them a thing or two!  I'll be praying for you sweetie!

Darc........I know you'll be glad when this chapter is over!  I'm just glad you won't have one of those old fashioned scars like I do!  I'll say a prayer for you and look forward to hearing all went well.  If Pam gets sick, CALL ME!

Tammy Hester is a nurse in ASU who has started my IVs for my 2 surgeries and she was excellent!  ASk for her is you can. 

I'll pray that your baby veins are all plumped up and easy to access on Monday!  Try to drink extra fluids Sunday night.  I know when I was having to do all those bowel preps, and got dehydrated, they had a hard time getting my IVs started.  Gotta do that again on Monday afternoon for another flex sig on Tuesday...

Yes Alice I am going to be at Pitt NOT the surgery center. Dr. Mann wanted to do the surgery center but they dont like my insurance which is the dumbest thing in the world because my insurance pays for anything and everything I need. Soooo yes I will be at Pitt. Ill ask for Tammy.... thanks for the heads up!!

Good Luck !!!! I absolutely hate needles and they bring on panic attacks for me as well. Over the years I've learned two tricks that work for me. First of all - Don'****ch them try and do it. If I watch them - my veins go into hiding. Second of all - use some guided imagery to take your mind off of what you're doing and where you're at. I close my eyes and think about a beautiful carribean beach, soft breeze, gentle waves, blue water, palm trees etc. That little trick kept me sane through my ovarian canver scare 3 years ago and works like a charm.
