FRUSTRATED!!

I need to vent as i am so flipping frustrated.   My wt loss over the past 6 weeks has been extremely slow.  Like 5 lbs or so.  Well, I have now gained 3 lbs and can't stand it and don't understand why unless my hormones (going through the change) or my frickin thyroid.  I walk a minimum of 2 miles a day and have been doing more.  My calorie intake is around 1000 to 1100.  Yesterday i was so p.o'd i went and joined Curves.  While they recommend you only come 3 times per week, I am going to go daily (except sunday cuz they're closed) and if the scale doesn't move back down, will have to go back and see my PCP and have her run another thyroid test.   I have been on synthroid for 6 months and don't know if my body has gotten used to it and needs for or what.  I don't feel dragged down like i did when it was low so wonder what the heck is going on.    Today i walked a mile at lunch and then went to Curves for a 30 minute workout.

Thanks for listening....needed to get this out of my system!

Love you all,

Pam

Pam,

I'd make an appointment w/your PCP, chart what you are eating and your activity levels. I'd also see about an appointment with your dietician/nutrition expert that works with your program. Something's up if you've only lost 5 lbs in 6 weeks and I'm sure that they can help you pick up the rocks and find out what's going on so that you can get things moving again.

Be sure to keep leading with protien, keep up the suppliments and hydration.

Hang in there, my friend. Like before, I'm sure that there is a 'reason' that can be managed so you can get this show on the road again.

Hugs,

Barb

i have always charted my food and get protein first with at least 60g a day.  My activity level is higher than it has been in 20 years.   not only did i only lose 5 but gained back 3.   Gonna give it a week with Curves and think i may be ovulating (don't think this will ever shut off!).  If the scale doesn't move by then....back to PCP i go.  Thanks!

Keep charting and be sure to take in samples with you when you see your dr and your nut.

I'm finally done with all that monthly stuff, but I swear it seems like all of the hormones go into overdrive as we start shifting in to menapause.

Please know that I don't think you are doing anything 'wrong' ... the reason I'm telling you  to chart your intake and activity is that it often seems to help the medical staff move forward, looking at what else might be up.

Keep working on it, it will happen.

Pam,  I just hate this for you.  I can't imagine how frustrating it must be.  Sometimes when I hit a weight-loss plateau, I have to *shock* my system.  The best way for me is to eat a pint of ice cream and then boom, the scale moves big time.  I know, I know, it sounds nuts and I'm NOT recommending that you eat a pint of ice cream, but I am saying that you may want to up your calories a bit for a day or two, then drop them back down.  I don't know why that seems to jump-start some people, but it does.  BTW, I really admire all the workouts and walking you are doing!  Hopefully your body will start dropping the weight for you again soon.

Pam - Vent all you need. Your a great support to all of us and that's why we're all here.
Sorry to hear about your current stall. It sounds like it could be a combination of things but I'd be really curious about that thyroid. Don't make yourself to miserable by waiting to long to go see your PCP, it could be as simple as a med increase...
Best Wishes!

I also have had success "jolting" my body with some bad food. Strange but true, it works for me?

Pam I don't have much room yet to be giving out advice when I'm only 9 days out, but the paperwork I got from the Nut says that if you stopped losing weight or gain then to go back to the previous stage you were at until you start losing again, so I guess for you it would be like the soft/puree stage? Hope you get it figured out and start losing again.

Now that you are working out remember that muscle weighs more then that nasty fat that you are dropping!! your body is in the fight or flight mode and is holding on to what it can before it all dissapears... and trust me it will!! Im sorry you are so frusterated, try to stay OFF the scale... sometimes I wouldnt lose but a few pounds a month but remember, it takes time and you WILL succeed!!!
