Great News! Ben has insurance approval and a surgery date!

Ben just got approval from AARP, his secondary insurer and already had approval from his primary insurer UHC, so he called Duke and has a surgery date of 12/11/08!!!

It's been a bumpy road, but we are both absolutely delighted that he'll be joining me on this incredible, life-changing journey.

Now, I need to find out what's necessary to change our surname to 'Sharpei.'

Thanks for letting me have a place to share some good news!

Awww, that is just totally awesome news, Barb!  Tell Ben that Allen and I have been following his story and are so delighted for him.  "Sharpei"...you silly!  {{{Hugs!!!}}}

Thanks Shauna ... You think I'm kidding ... besides you don't know our real last name. Sharpei will be an improvement ... don't tell Ben's dad I said that, but it's true. I tried to get Ben to take my surname, but he said I'd have to clear it with his Dad, so no go. Oh well. ;-)

Awww.  Well, I will have to PM you my full married name.  It's a mouthful!  But, it's almost as bad as saying, "Shauna Sharpei" ten times real fast.  lol

As for shar peis, they'd be the perfect mascot.  I think they are *adorable!*

Yep! I think if Ben ever gets his butt on this board, he'll either use a bulldog or sharpei as his avatar. Since you've met him, you know that would be appropriate.

Thanks for the congrats and I'll be sure to pass 'em on.

That is wonderful Barb...only 2 more months and he will be on the losers bench with us.   I really like the idea of a Sharpei as a mascot and think we can all relate..lol.

Take care, Pam
