A survey type question or two!

I looked at some of the Healthy Choice Meals and Lean Cuisines at Wal Mart today - didn't decide on any to buy, but I am thinking I might want to keep a few in the freezer for emergency meals.

What is your favorite one?  and it can be HC or LC or which ever one you like best.  I used to really like the ones that were cheese ravioli or the ****a ones, but I have pretty much sworn off pasta at this time.

Secondly - I was thinking about some of the protein bars, too.  So once again - do you have a favorite one??

Thanks,
Shelia

I haven't tried one yet but the South Beach Pizzas seem to get rave reviews. You may want to look at the other South Beach entrees as they would be lower carb options normally.

For the protein bars, I love the Pure Protein Brand and the Atkins chocolate chip crisp bars.

For emergency meals - I've been keeping flat breads in the freezer and then taking those out adding some SF Ragu pasta sauce, some pepperoni and cheese to it then heating it up for a fabulous little pizza. Of course I get 4 meals out of it but my black lab adores pizza so he loves it when I make it.

Thank you Iris - I haven't tried the flat bread because it seems like it would be one of those things that would get stuck... But I like the idea.  I will look at the carbs and proteins to see what frozen items might end up in my freezer.

Personally, I'm not much for protien bars or shakes of anytype, so I'm not much help there.

Re: HC or LC meals ... I think having a few stashed in the freezer is a great backup for busy nights when you are just too exhausted to do anything else. I also like to keep frozen shrimp in my freezer and some Trader Joe's ****tail sauce which only has one gram of sugar. It's a great low cal, high protien, low carb, fast meal.

Here's a list of what I like, but I bolded favorites:

Healthy Choice: Glazed Chicken, Roast Turkey breast, Grilled Chicken Breast and Pasta, Chicken Rigatoni

Lean Cuisine: Garlic Beef and Broc., Honey Dijon Grilled Chicken, Glazed Chicken, Chicken Marsala, Roasted Garlic Chicken, Steak Tips Portobello,

Kraft South Beach Living: Chicken Caprese, Sesame Chicken Wrap (in the deli section)

I think these are a great quick way to be sure to stay on track, but the sodium counts are pretty heavy, so I don't use them all time, but they are great once or twice a week.

Barb,

Thank you for the great suggestions.  I have tried some of the chicken things back a few years ago and thought they were pretty tasteless.  So I will try again.

And I will be reading the nutritional values, too.

The protein bars would be nice for a quick snack, but I never think they would be a replacement for a meal....

The LC are 40% off at Foodlion through tomorrow.

My favorite is the spinach and mushroom pizza. But that may be too many carbs for you.  But it so yummy. A nice treat for me at 2.5 years out.

Personally.....I don't think Healthy Choice even compare to Lean Cuisine!! I had a HC once and it was soooo bland and just ICK, that I never ever again picked up another one!!
Lean Cuisines on the other hand are yummy!!! The Smart Ones (red box) are good too!!
I love the Beef Tenderloin (it comes in a gravy sauce) with Broccoli on the side, I always add a 1/2 cup of cottage cheese to compliment it and sprinkle some parmesan cheese!! It makes for a yummy lunch :)

I like both of them and I keep some in my freezer just in case I don't have any leftovers to bring to work for lunch once in a while.  I really like the ones that have the meat and vegetable.  I'm not much on pasta any more.   I don't have a favorite protein bar, I used to eat them but I think they were triggering something in me and I started thinking of them as candybars instead.  So I stopped eating them... I'm sure it's just me.

Enjoy!
