Linwood Falls Question...
Hey ya'll... Rex is taking me to Linwood Falls for my birthday this weekend and I wanted to know what else there was to do there besides hike to the falls, I can't wait to do that, but I know it won't take up all 3 days... (at least I hope it doesn't... lol). I've never been anywhere in the mountains of NC so I'm excited!!!
I hope everyone is doing well!!!!!

Before I reply, I need to make sure I know where it is you are going! Where is Linwood Falls? I know where Linville Falls is and know everyplace I would visit up there since we just planned a family trip (and missed it!) to head that way. I'll do my best to make suggestions based on where you'll be!
Hehe I actually had no clue there wasn't a Linwood somewhere since we are still getting to know the area and the state of NC. It sounds like the perfect weekend, Sheryl. I hope so much we can finally make a mini-vacation of that area sometime next year because I've heard many times over it's simply awesome. (And I'm with you about the swinging bridge! lol) ENJOY!
I'm assuming that you're going to Linville Falls. Soooo beautiful. You can also go to Grandfather Mnt and walk on some of the trails there, have a picnic there, view the animals and walk across the mile high swinging bridge. The view from there is amazing. There is also the Linville Caverns to visit, go on horseback rides, go to the Altapass Orchard and get fresh picked (or pick your own) apples, go gem mining, visit Crabapple Falls (I think that's the name) or go shopping in Blowing Rock. I could go on and on. Where will you be staying and what kinds of things do you like to do? My family loves that area. In fact my husband I plan to move there the day he retires.
Mile high swinging bridge ----> oh nooooo! I'm afraid of heights!!! YIKES! I know it's silly going up to the mountains and being afraid of heights but as long as there is dirt underneath my shoes I'm ok.... I went online and looked up the area, it looks beautiful! I'll have to mention the Altapass Orchard. Rex wants to go mining so we'll probably do that too. The caverns sound cool too...
Thanks!
Sheryl
Thanks!

Rex is a good guy! We were going to the Nascar races down in Concord but his son didn't come through with the tickets. Soooo Linville Falls it is! I called the reservation desk at the falls to find out about the weather and she said it's beautiful right now and that the trees are changing colors already. I love seeing all the pretty colors! I really called to see if Rex had already reserved us a cabin (but he doesn't need to know that... he's not an organizer usually... but he had already done it... wow! lol!)
See ya at Logan's!
Love ya back!

Here are some of the links I had saved when planning our trip to Boone:
Grandfather Mountain
Linville Caverns
The Blowing Rock
We also wanted to see the outdoor drama The Horn in the West, but I think it runs only during the summer months.
Hope you have a GREAT time, Sheryl!!! We LOVE the mountains here!!!
