Well I know I told everybody about my left side pain, which by the way has gone away.  I think it was a pulled, strained muscle.  But since yesterday I have had this sharp stabbing pain when i breathe in underneath my upper rib cage and also my collar bone on my right side.  Well to say the least I did not sleep what so ever last night.  I  was on the couch so I wouldnt disturb my husband with me tossing and turning.  Any how that I laid it hurt so bad.  I didnt want to breathe anymore, it was that bad.  I have not had the urge to eat everytime I do it seems like I throw it up.  Yesterday was the first day in about 3 days that I was able to eat a piece of cheese and 3 bites of chicken.  But at 5 in the morning I threw up 4 times and it was just clear. (i know tmi) I finally got in bed at 7 this morning and I was up at 10:15.  Now the pain seems to be in the middle of my chest underneath my ribcage when I breathe and now on my left side.  I just got done throwing up again and I havent ate anything yet today.  I am able to take my vitamins.  I just know im not getting in my protein.  I dont know what to do.  I cant just go to the ER because where i had my surgery is about 2 hours away.  And if I do go it will be by myself because my husband will have to stay here with my daughter.  I just need to know if this is serious or should I wait to see if it will pass.  Im in so much pain and dont feel good at all.  Thanks for listening.

I haven't had WLS yet, but I did have my gall bladder out 20+ years ago.  You are describing the pain I had before it was removed.  If I were you I would call the doctor today and not wait the weekend out.

At the very least call your doctor!  Pain is an indicator that something is wrong!!!  You can't play with this or tough it out.  Please call your doctor right now... doesn't have to be your surgeon... and please do whatever he or she tells you to do.  I know it's a pain in the butt.  Even if you have to do it alone... I am 59 years old and live alone and have animals.  Sometimes I had to make these hospital runs post op alone and wound up getting admitted for complications.  **** happpens and we have to deal with it.  Consider the possible alternatives...  And if you can't take care of yourself, then at least take care of your child's mother!

And please keep us posted!

Thank goodness that you are going in!  This sounds like it does need immediate attention.  You will feel so much better soon!  Thanks for letting us know.  And keep in mind, I am off this weekend and not all that far from you... if I can be of any help, let me know.

Start with the one locally.  If you need surgery, let the professionals make the call as to whether it is safer for you to do it locally or to make the trip to G'ville.  These things take on a life of their own once you involve the professionals and they will set things up for you in your  best interests.  You just have to turn things over to them.  There are bariatric surgeons in Wilmington you can turn to for say, gallbladder surgery, which is what this sounds like... that might also be an option.

Hi Amanda,

I'm just now reading this message and its 5:15pm so I hope by now you have gotten help. I'm in Wilmington and my surgeon Dr. David Miles is also a gallbladder doctor for your info. I was in New Hanover Hospital ER for 6 hrs yesterday and no it wasn't any fun but at least I found out what was wrong and got meds for it. I was going to say to go to an Urgent Care if you don't want to go sit in the ER forever. I'm not sure where you live at but there is one in Leland and a few in Wilmington. Let me know what you find out.

God Bless,
Cindy
