There were two bad things I had to deal with right after surgery. First the pain for the first couple of days stunk. The other was about a week out I really got bummed out with liquid food. If you can handle that much the rest is a great highway. Just dont expect too much right at first and get used to the fact you are on a different program and it will help. Granted we risk alot just getting out of bed every day so you have been brave enough to handle that for a while now in life. This is just going to be a really great experience in the long run and should open alot of new doors for you. I waited until I was fifty two and that was thirty years way too long for me cause I was a dough boy even at 22. Just think of it this way you are gaining a lifestyle that should keep you healthy to  live to be a ripe old age and do pretty much what you want to do. Hang in there it will soon be second nature to you.

Amber,

I wish you every success as you get ready to start making changes that will enhance your the quality and length of your life. It's scary to have surgery and it's scary to make a commitment to make radical changes in your life. But the changes that you will make will give you a life that is fuller than you can imagine. While the first weeks and months are trying, you'll be able to get through it and you'll be stronger for it. You may have trails and tribulations, but you will have the support of your medical team, family, friends and the folks here. We'll all be here to help you and cheer you on.

If you didn't see it before, take a look at a thread I posted earlier about habits. It might be one of the most important things besides your surgery that you'll need to tackle. You'll need to change many behaviors to be successful in the long term. The surgery will help you with that a great deal. It will give you time to make changes. It will also give you a tool to help you maintain some moderation in the volume of food that you consume. If you can identify and manage the behaviors that are both a threat and a help to you, you'll be miles ahead of the game.

I look forward to getting to know you better as you make this lifechanging journey.

All the best,

Barb

Amber,

You are very welcome. I want you to know that young and old, we all need help and support. You might have an advantage over some of us older folks. Those of you who are young, not only have your relative health in tact, but your 'bad habits' have has less time to take root, so hopefully, as you are growing and developing you will work hard to identify and address harmful habits and look for and cultivate helpful habits that will provide you with a lifetime of healthful living.

Wishing you all the best,

Barb

Congratulations - when the question is asked on most of the boards on what do folks regret - the biggest answer seems to be not having done this sooner. You my friend will not be able to say that. I'm excited for you. This tool will give you the best and brightest future. Continue to read and post with questions & Wow's so we can enjoy your ride with you.
