stage 2 of the diet
The thought of something more that protein drink, or popsicles is every cool!
Fran
I am nearing the end of my stage 2 diet. I've been eating cottage cheese, applesauce, cream soups (chicken, broccoli and cheese) , pintos and cheese from Taco Bell, mashed potatoes mainly. And of course having my 12 oz of protein shake per day and lots of water. At this stage I started making my protein shakes with skim milk instead of water and that made a huge difference in the taste. I've been drinking the Isopure chockolate and vanilla. Oh and I've also had unjury chicken broth and use the unflavored unjury powder in my soups and jello pudding.
hope this helps

Hi Fran,
I had my surgery at Duke, so my stage 2 was probably different than yours. I was on 'stage 1' for nearly 4 weeks which was clear liquids and protien supplements. I was allowed to move to 'stage 2' which consisted of soft foods ... or anything that can be cut with a fork, that doesn't have seeds, skins, or is cruciferious.
I loved being able to have things with texture and that were savory instead of sweet. I think that early on my favorite things were shrimp ****tain w/Trader Joe's house ****tail sauce which only has 1 gram of sugar, Taco Bell's pinto's and cheese, Wendy's chili, crab cakes made with lump crab and not much breading, and cottage cheese pancakes. Things that were more challenging at first were eggs because they can actually be much more dense than you might think, meats that weren't cooked to a very moist, tender texture.
If you look at the June/July 2007 portion of my profile, you'll see what I had.
Be very careful as you ask about what people had and didn't have when you go from stage to stage, because probably one of the biggest variables from program to program is dietary portion and you really want to be sure that you closely follow the guidelines of your particular program.
Wishing you every success,

You are most welcome, but be sure that they fit with whatever the guidelines are from your program, so that you are able to have the best outcome possible.

If purees: My absolute fave was Wendy's chili. You could puree it in a blender or magic bullet, but I just pureed my food in my mouth by chewing it to oblivion. :) Another good one (especially if others around you are having italian food) is ricotta cheese heated up with low-sugar marinara sauce. Yum! I also made (and still make very often) pudding with low-fat cream cheese blended into it. It adds more flavor and a little more protein. Good luck, and enjoy!
