Raleigh hospitals

I am "hopefully" going to be having WLS in the upcoming months. My surgeon is Dr. Enochs out of Cary. He has quite a few hospitals he frequents. I am leaning toward Rex Hospital but wanted to hear everyone's opinions. I am very big on needing good bedside manners and a comfortable environment. Thanks!!

Dr. Enochs only performs the bariatric surgery at Rex and in Louisburg.  Wake does not allow the WLS to be performed there.  I went to Rex and only had one nurse that was not nice.  The others were good.  If I needed something they were there and very polite.

Unfortunately, I had to delete this post due to privacy concerns.

Got a lap band in 2008. Tried hard, but didn't lose much weight & developed swallowing problems. Fought my insurance company for almost a year & finally had a band to DS revision on 5/11/12. Have now lost 125 pounds. Yay!

I was there 3 weeks ago today!!!!!  Rex.  Without a doubt.  DON"T go to Louisburg.  They're an ok hospital for most things but I doubt if they see nearly as much WLS as Rex.

They have only been recently doing WLS at Rex. Until sometime this year, Enochs did all of his WLS through the other hospital.

I have not had personal experience with Dr. Enoch's. I have had personal experience with surgical and post surgical care at Rex and it was outstanding and caring.

I'd ask how many procedures they have performed at each facility, complications, nursing/patient ratios, etc.

All the best,

Barb

Actually, he begain doing the WLS at Rex last year as that was when I had my surgery.  At that time, he was doing the surgeries at Rex on Monday and at Louisburg on Wednesday.  I had a choice and since I live in Garner, I wanted to be closer to home and chose Rex.  I had a private room which was very nice.  I think all of the rooms at Rex are private, but I don't know.  You can go to Rex's website and check that out.

Dr. Enochs did my surgery at Rex 6 months ago.  It was a very positive experience.  I had no problems and no bad nurses.

I specifically waited (put off my surgery) for about 9 months until he was back at Rex. I really was not interested in having it at Louisburg.

I feel very comfortable in recommending Rex to you.

Good luck!!!

I had my surgery at Rex 2 weeks ago with Dr Moran. I would recommend Rex to anyone. I would never send anyone (friend or enemy) to Louisburg for any type of procedure. I am in the medical profession and we are all aware of the problems encountered in Louisburg.
