Hi Jennifer,
When you call BCBS of CA, ask them if they've received your information and then find out if they have a case manager for you. You can also ask them for the time line for the process. They have a contractual timeline ... i.e., must have a determine w/in x days.
Different companies handle things different ways. While many get a letter of approval, I did not, they sent something directly to my Dr's office. I found out about the approval before my Dr. did, but they actually electronically notified my Dr's office of the approval and my Dr's office told me about when I called them ... right after I hung up from the insurance company. As Iris suggested, I was a sweet as could be, but I was persistent and talked to someone daily. I think my insurance company had 3 weeks to make a determination and I heard from the on the 11th day, so it came in almost a week early.
Hang in there, hon ... It'll happen.
Take care,
Barb
