Real food

I saw my NUT yesterday and now can have real food. I had expected a couple of stages and its true I am in what she calls stage two but it isn't what I expected. I actually can eat meat and seafood. I just can't have any veggies or fruit for about 6 more months. I can still have some carbs from milk, yogurt and cheese. I guess I am worried that I won't be getting fiber and well that could be a problem don't you think? But I am willing to follow the diet as long as I can stay healthy. Of course I will be taking the right supplements. I didn't do this only to die of malnutrition. On the bright side I can enjoy a little something at our monthly meetups after all.

Hey Ann, Im glad everything is going along well for you.  You will probably have to incorporate some benefiber at some point in time, that is what I had to do, being the way she has our stages set up because constipation may become a problem.  I am so glad you were able to advance your diet to meats, you will enjoy that incredibly.  How are you feeling?

We probably have the same NUT. I don't totally agree with her ideas of how to do this but have to follow her advice for now. She does have the pouch rules pretty much on the money but not being able to have any beans or veggies or fruit is going to be hard for me to continue for six months. She did tell me to use benefiber but said no to using flax as an additive. She doesn't allow beans because she sees them as carbs instead of how I see them as a protein source. I wonder if she has a plan vegetarians could follow. I am doing well so far. I used leftover chicken from last night and blended myself a chicken salad. I think it made enough for three servings though. But thats fine. Shame I can't put pickle relish in it LOL!

Hey Ann, we do have the same NUT, and personally thought she was a nut when she told me what my diet would be.  I am not advising you to do so, but on some things I had to find my own way because what she was saying was just not making sense.  She now makes you wait 6 months before fruits and veggies?  It was 3 months for me.  Make sure you get the correct vitamins because she definately has us taking the wrong thing.  Good Luck.

No worries. I will end up doing what is best for me and I am sure that fruits and veggies will sneak in from time to time. She is a lovely person and I know she means well. She just got some different training or has different ideas about how to lose weight vs balanced diet. And her primary clientel are diabetes patients. I probably will lose rather quickly just based on the restriction and malabsorption alone without any weird eating plan. And when my scale reads 199 I will take more control over my choices of what to follow and what not to follow. Right now I must admit the amount of weight down so far is kind of amazing. I have never had it go down this fast before. I know it slows down pretty soon in fact but if it doesn't I will be at 199 in about 4 weeks.

Just remember to eat very slowly and chew chew chew chew until you can't chew anymore. Don't be surprised if what works for you today doesn't work tomorrow. It really is trial and error from here on out.

Good Luck and let us know if you have any problems.

Nothing has gone down my throat yet that wasn't total mush. I am chewing really well I promise. So far so good. Also the way I feel today I am now sure I can handle the zoo in Saturday.

Hi Ann,

I'm delighted to hear that things are going so well for you and I know that you will enjoy the benefits of your new eating plan. Check with your nut. to see if beans are allowed. I'll bet that they are, but check to be sure. They are an excellent way to get fiber and protien into your diet and may help to prevent some of the constipation issues you can run into when you have a low fiber diet.

I hope to see less of you soon.

All the best,

Barb

My nut calls beans carbs. I don't agree but she doesn't allow them until six months. So as much as I love all varieties of beans I won't be having those wonderful bean soups I love to make in the winter. Still she swears this is the best way to lose the most possible weight so I will go along unless I get sick or something.

Hi Ann,

I was just telling someone else that I think that the biggest variable from program to program is the dietary component. While everyone else may have an 'opinion' it's important to do your best to follow the guidelines set out by the program you are using. They have their reasons. If you have concern or an objection, feel free to contact them and talk with them about those. Sometimes the general guidelines that they give everyone are able to be flexed on a person to person basis, but in general it's really best to go with the plan that they come up with.

I'm looking forward to seeing less of you soon.

All the best,

Barb
