I pray everything works out for you with the plastic surgery. I know it will be a blessing for you. Getting the pannus removed should help with the reduction of fluid in your legs.

I am a therapist and have been trained to treat lyphedema but, I am not certified by the lyphedema society. In my experience the therapy for lymphedema combined with compression stockings works very well.

According to the classes I have taken... fluid pills for the lymphedema won't be that effective. There is protein in the lymph fluid that does not get dispelled by a fluid pill. The protein draws fluid back into the leg. Although it is entirely possible to have fluid in the legs from multiple causes. If there are any other causes in addition to lymphedema the fluid pill may help.

I know a nurse practitioner at the hospital that I work at who has lymphedema in one leg after some pelvic cancer. She says the fluid pill has made a difference for her even though the experts say it shouldn't.

The therapy for the lymphedema should make a big difference. But it is not a cure. There will things that the therapist will teach that you can do to help maintain the reduction in fluid following therapy.

You are such an inspiration to us all!! And a great success!!

Take care!!
Belinda

Hi Belinda,
I had my pannus removed 5 years ago after loosing the first 300lbs.
I was cut hip to hip and they removed 21lbs and made a new belly button for me.
Unfortunatly I got septis and they had to go in and drain 2 liter of fluid off.
The fluid had the bacteria in it that caused the septis.
I dont think I have ever been so sick in my life.
The great thing about having the pannis removed then was my PS really made my abdomin very tight so I have noticed the more I workout the tighter it is getting and I am totally thrilled with it.
The first thing that I would like the PS to do is take care of the mons pubis.
I will be calling the therapist about my legs today and get that started.
I am also going to start the fluid pills today too.
I will keep track of what my body is doing and the fluid pills are PRN.

Now Annie, you KNOW you are in NO way a failure!!!  I hope the diuretic helps with both the lymphedema as well as the fluid retention.

I also have a yeasty belly button since surgery... my pcp gave me a script for an anti fungal, fluconazole, but it came back as soon as I was done taking the pills...  hey who knows?  Maybe someday I can qualify to get the pannus removed because of the leaky yeasty belly button!!!

Keep up the great work, Sweetie.
