Ok the problem with my bely button my pcp says it is yeast
Ok so she writes a persription for that.
Also she is all for me having the extra skin removed asap.
So she filled out all the paper work for that.
I told her about me retaining fluid and she wants me to take a fluid pill to help.
Last time I was retaining water was when I was taking some kind of insulin.
I remember I lost something like 25lbs in two weeks.
Once I lost that it did not come back.
By taking fluid pills does this make me a failure?
I know that sounds weird but I want so much to do the right thing and I know how hard I am working on myself.

I called PS and said I would be faxing my pcp report to them.
What they may not know is getting approved for wls I became an expert playing the paper chase.

I retain water a lot more when I don't get enough rest.  Are you sleeping enough?

Hi Catt,
I think for the first time ever in my life I am sleeping better than ever.
I no longer use my cpap any more and I can sleep on my side too.
I do have lymphadema in my legs but my pcp has given me a name of a trained therapist to help with my legs.

Annie,

If your PCP wants you to take a diuretic, then take it. It's not something you are doing to lose weight, it's something you are doing to flush the excess fluids from your body. I'd want to know more about why she thinks you might be retaining those excess fluids if it ends up being a longterm issue. People who take diuretics to 'lose weight' lose body fluid that is not really 'excess' therefore they put it right back on because their bodies need those fluids to function. I imagine that the reason you did not regain the fluid the last time your Dr had you do this and you probably won't this time is that you are holding excess fluid. When your body rids itself of it, it isn't likely to store it again unless there is some underlying issue that needs to be addressed... I guess that was the long way around the block to say 'No, taking water pills is not cheating and does NOT make you a failure."

Take care,

Barb

Hi Barb,
My doctor has also given me a number of a therapist who works with people with lymphadema.
I also noticed on the perscription it is PRN and for edema which is noticable in my legs.

Hey Annie....First of all you are NOT a failure!   You have progressed more than anyone I know.   Secondly, with your leg condition, she probably wants to relieve some of that pressure from the excess water in your body.   Now follow your doc's orders and don't ever think you are a failure.

Love ya, Pam

How can anybody having lost over 400 pounds and kept it off so far be a failure. You need the pills to correct a medical condition. That's just not cheating. If it were then PS would be cheating too since that always takes off some weight as well.

I think the pills are for the lymphadema in my legs I am sure that is where the fluid is.

Annie why in the world would you think you are a failure. Ypu are one of the most succesful, duty driven wls patients I know. I wish I had half of your drive. I am sending prayers for your approval for PS. Maybe we can do this together. Will yours be done at Duke? Annie ...."You have come a long way " You are a winner.
Good Luck

Hi Myrtis,
Yes I have come a very long way.
I dont feel I will win till I get to onederland.
I hate being fat I am just tired of it.
I feel bad it took me this long to finally understand what I have to do.
Why I feel like a failure is having to go on pills.
I was so glad when I knew I did not have to take meds any more.
I will have my PS at UNC.
