Hernia and Pannie

OK gang cross your fingers and toes for me!  I Went to the Surgen and PS. It sounds like I may get both things taken car of. I have a very large hernia (not due to wls) and the Duke Dr. Pickett (love her) says she thinks she can help me. She and Dr. Gunn(PS) will work as a team.....if my insurance approves the panni removal. Dr. Gun thinks they will especially since it could affect the healing of the hernia surgery. So what I need, is your prayers and good wishes that it is approved. I am not getting all the perks just excess skin removal. But it would help my mobility and maybe I could learn to enjoy to the fullest extent...my weight loss. If it is approved I have asked to have the surgery the last 2 weeks of Dec.of this year. There are a few reasons for this.  I will never be bikini material but it would be nice not to look wop sided and wierd. Thank you OH family  I could not have done this alone...you are a great group.  I will keep you posted on my progress.

I pray you get your insurance approval.

Having the hernia repaired and the panni removed will make a huge difference in how you feel!!! Here's hoping for good news.

Crossing fingers, toes...legs, eyes...and whatever else I can manage!  That would be great to kill 2 birds with 1 stone, WITH insurance helping to pay the bill.  I hope so much they approve both for you and it only makes sense that they SHOULD!

Here's hoping you'll get the approval soon and that they can get you scheduled for the time you are needing!

Hi Myrtis,
I had my panni removed after loosing the first 300lbs.
To this day I have no regrets having it done.
In fact I have noticed as I workout my stomach is getting tighter.
I am also looking into having the extra skin removed and am going to see my pcp about that today.
Best wishes to you and you will love your new tummy.

Band to DS

Unfortunately, I had to delete this post due to privacy concerns.

Got a lap band in 2008. Tried hard, but didn't lose much weight & developed swallowing problems. Fought my insurance company for almost a year & finally had a band to DS revision on 5/11/12. Have now lost 125 pounds. Yay!
