Readjusting my focus...

Thanks for all of your replies to my latest saga at the PCP's regarding my lost medical records.  We got a call this morning from the office manager who said there will be no problem changing the referral letter.  I hope to pick that up soon so we can get these final documents faxed.  My psych consult is this Friday (knock on wood!!!).  After these final few things, my part will be finished and I will just have to wait to meet with the surgeon.

It's that busy time of year where everyone is making a bee-line toward surgery before the end of the year.  Since things have taken a bit longer, I am going to most likely be in with that flock of patients, and I'm okay with that.  We just realized at the end of last week that if they can't get me scheduled for surgery until December, that will not be such a bad thing.  Hubby will be able to take the week off to help with the kiddos and then they will be out of school for holiday vacation.

We've decided that if I can get in sooner, we will make things work, but if I can't, then that will make things that much easier.  I'm just having faith that everything WILL work out regardless!

Hi Shauna,

What a great positive attitude to have!  Kudos to you!  I feel the exact same way as you.  I have been in insurance hell -- well purgatory, mostly since it seems an interminable waiting game at this point -- so I know a thing or 2 about readjusting ones focus, and expectations.  I always heard that expectations are the death of serenity. And it seems so true.

Like you, I have decided that if I could have surgery some time between Thanksgiving and Christmas, it really would be ideal since my company shuts down for a week at the end of the year.  That way I could build in an extra week of before returning to work - an extra week to recuperate and learn to live with my new plumbing.

So I hope that it all works out for you to have that convenient time.  You've had your own sets of trouble and setbacks, and I hope that smoother days are ahead for you.  You certainly deserve them!!!  Do keep us posted, and be sure to hug your hubby for being your fearless defender!!  He sounds like a wonderful guy!

Shauna I heard a phrase yesterday about God's timing that I had never heard before - "God is seldom early - but he's never late" I think that applies to your surgery as well.

Shauna-

What a great point! I didn't even take into consideration all of the people out there rushing to get their surgeries before 2009- I think I'll follow your lead and just go with the Flow. No need in getting rushed at this point I suppose. =)
