Hi Everybody....
I started a topic a while back complaining abt how long it was taking Duke WLS to get back to me after my application (early June 2008--patience is not a strong  point for me).

Well I have to say it is only fair that I let you all know what a terrific   job they are doing now with my approvals and moving me forward in the process.  In the last 3 weeks , Ive had my initial visit , last study performed ,med surg review and insurance approval.  I got insurance approval in 2 hours!!

I am scheduled for surgery with Dr Pryor on Nov 5 and I am very happy with the staff and all the services at Duke.

I would love to hear from patients of Dr Pryor,,,abt your recommended diet , your progress , etc.

Btw , I love this site,,,the attitudes are so positive , warm and supportive , plus I am learning so much.  Thank you all.

Congratualtions!!!!!! WOW, that is SO exciting! Especially since they are moving to a new facility. I called them yesterday to investigate using Dr. Pryor and now they aren't even taking new patients until after November!

CONGRATS, soon you will be on the loosing side!

Hi,

I'm delighted to hear that things are moving forward for you now. I agree that Duke seems to have found a way to remove the roadblocks and get things moving.

I run a support group in Raleigh and have a number of patients from Duke that attend. Several have had Dr. Pryor and have been very pleased with the results and with her bedside manner. I have not had personal interaction with her, but I know that my husband, who is also working on having his surgery through Duke is planning to use her.

Wishing you all the best. Congratulations on getting your approval and surgery date.

It won't be long now!

Congratulations on getting a surgery date! The big day will be here before you know it.

You're very fortunate to have made it through within 3 weeks. I've been "in line" to be submitted to insurance since Sept. 11. When I called today I was told there were still several charts ahead of mine and they could not estimate how long much longer my wait would be. Needless to same, I am frustrated and disappointed. I'm thinking about switching to Dr. Enochs....I've heard a lot of positive things about him and his staff.

Thanks for listening! Wishing you an uneventful surgery and speed recovery!

k-gal and Barbara , I like Dr. Pryors stats.  I feel pretty confident (w/o having met her yet) that Im in good hands.   K-gal , I didnt know they were moving but I did hear news of a freeze till November.

I hope if you are still interested , that you can get in soon afterwards.  Thanks , both of you , for your responses.
