I just received a call from DWL and I'm scheduled for my lap band with Dr. Tourquati (sp) on Oct 6th.    I can feel the anxiety building inside of me.    Duke had lost my records for a month and then all of a sudden everything went so quickly.    There's hope again for anyone going to Duke.

Any words of wisom from all of you wonderful people?   I hope my anxiety doesn't get the best of me.

Thanks for listening!     Citygal

Wooo Hooo!!! Get excited girl!  You're in for the ride of your life, strap yourself in and enjoy the ride!!!  I didn't have lapband, but I'm sure everything will go well!!!  There are a lot of lappers on here and I'm sure they'll be able to help you!

Best of luck, see you on the loosers bench!

>>>>Lapper here, lol.  congrats on your date!   It will be here before you know it!  It is a very easy surgery to recover from, you'll be feeling better before you know it. Take a few "before" pics of yourself full length because you'll want to compare the changes to what you used to be.  Save a pair of your old pants that fit now. I saved the same ones that I wore to surgery.  Stock up on different flavors of crystal light-it was my Godsend because water got soooooo boring.  Buy a few cans of campbells chicken broth, and if they don't have that, get chicken noodle so you can strain it. Regular broth gets old real quick.  Liquid tylenol is a good thing....after you're out you try not to take pain killers more than you have to and it's hard to swallow a pill- esp. in the middle of the night.......but the liquid goes down wonderful.  I used Gas-X and they said it was ok.  You will love this surgery and I wish you the best of luck!  My pm's are open for any/all questions/concerns you may have.  Good luck girl!

Hi Citygal,

I had Dr. Eric DeMaria. I have heard good things about all of the surgeons with DukeWLS, including Dr. Torquati. It looks like my husband will probably have Dr. Pryor.

All the best,

Barb

Congratulations on getting your surgery date!  I know you're thrilled.  Dr. Torquati was my surgeon as well but I had RNY.  He is wonderful; he has a wonderful reputation and an excellent bedside manner.  I know that I wouldn't change a thing.  Keep us posted.

Take care,

Rhonda

Congratulations on a date.....less than 2 weeks....yippy, woo-hoo! How long did it take between medical review and submitting to insurance? Have you already met with the surgeon? My chart is in line to be submitted to insurance. When I called Duke they told me they were behind.
Best Wishes ~ Jennifer
