Protein drinks

Does any have any suggestions on how to take the protein powder, this morning with vanilla whey protein I tried to make it into a shake and it made me gag.  I am "potentially" having the surgery on the 25th and it was recommended that I try to test this out before the surgery.  Any suggestions??

I use different flavor ones in my sf puddings love to mix 1/2 a scoop of the Syntha 6 Cookies and cream in with my vanilla or chocolate sf pudding).  I also take the powder, mix it with water and ice and sf flavors (like Davinci) and mix them in the blender.  I also just pu****er and powder, along with sf instant pudding flavors (white chocolate, pistachio, cheesecake, etc) and shake them in my blenderball.  Right now I am drinking the Lean Dessert vanilla with water and sf cheesecake flavored instant pudding mix - it's delicious.  The pudding mix makes the shake thicker as well as flavoring it up.

It really depends on the protein powder you use - my personal favorites are Lean Dessert and Syntha 6 and the Champion Nutrition is good too.

Some people say your taste will change after surgery - mine never did - so I would not buy up too much - maybe get some samples.

Good Luck!

Keep in mind that each brand tastes differently even thou its esentially the same - so you may need to try a few other brands to find one you like.
Personally I used BioChems 100% Whey Protein in Vanilla or Designer Whey in Vanilla  - my base is w/FF or LF vanilla soy milk, 0% greek yogurt then to flavor it I add a little mixed berries (early out you may not be allowed seeded fruit), SF choco syrup ... another is the same base but with natural pnut butter, SF choco syrup and maybe a little banana - with the fruit a little bit goes a long way with the flavor so you dont need to put a bunch in there!

I had a lot of issues with protein drinks.  I just couldn't find anything I liked, but I have a couple of suggestions that work for me.  I mix chocolate 100% whey powder from GNC in carnation instant breakfast or in coffee with a little milk and artificial sweetener.  I've also put unflavored powder in cream of wheat and in grapefruit juice.  Hope some of these work for you.

All of the suggestions have been awesome.  I just knew that I was not the only one with these issues.  I am having the surgery in a week so hopefully I will have it all under control by then!

Thanks!

Unfortunately, I had to delete this post due to privacy concerns.

Got a lap band in 2008. Tried hard, but didn't lose much weight & developed swallowing problems. Fought my insurance company for almost a year & finally had a band to DS revision on 5/11/12. Have now lost 125 pounds. Yay!

I mix 2 scoops pure whey protein (64G protein)Gold Standard (ordered from Bodybuilding.com) chocolate with 1 Slim Fast Low Carb Diet (20gprotein) chocolate with 1 cup skim milk in the blender. It tastes good and with that one drink you get 84g of protein!
Good luck!
