How long does it take to get rid of all this gas in my tummy? Do you think it is ok to take gas-x strips to help relieve it? Thanks!

Welcome home and to the losers bench!  The gas is usually gone by day 3 or 4 for most folks.  Walking is the best thing for gettting rid of it.  You can try the gas-X strips; I did, but they didn't do much for me.  Hope they work better for you!  Congrats on the beginning of your new life!  Alice

I never did have any gas pains.  I have heard that the reason the gas-x doesn't help much is because the gas is in your abdoman, for the gas they pump in to float your organs during surgery.  The gas isn't actually in your tummy, where the gas-x works.  Walk, move your arms, sometimes a heating pad, is what I have heard works.

BTW, I'm a mother of twins, too.  Mine are now 39 years old!

Hi -

My understanding is the same as Grammy Lew's. I'd contact your surgeon's office for clarification, but walking is just about the best thing you can do for so many reasons. So walk, walk, walk, and sip, sip, sip.

Wishing you all the best on this incredible journey.

Barb

P.S. Like Grammy Lew, I'm also a mother of twins. Mine are 26 and one of them just married his beloved bride last week! It's just amazing how quickly the time passes. Enjoy them!

The day of my surgery (i had it at 7 am) I had gas but they let me get out of bed at 3 pm.   From then on, i was up every hour to 90 minutes and walked the halls and the gas went away.

Welcome to the losers bench!
