Winter Clothes

Since the weather is changing and so are our bodies... I decided to try on my winter clothes from last season to see what fits me now.  Well... nothing....  So, I decided to take my size 10-12 clothes to a consignment store and see if I can make some money on them.  After they went through all the clothes, they came back out and said... if you have any more 12's we sure could use them... most people are a size 12.  I was like - WOW - I guess I am not the normal size anymore.  I told her... nope that was all the 12's that I have and I was not going to be buying anymore...

So, then after that comment, I decided that I should go into this boutique and check out skinny clothes.  I use to go into the boutique and be like - WOW - I wish I could wear these small clothes and who buys this stuff... it is so small and no human can wear this...  I use to feel out of place and as if everyone is looking at me, saying - why is she in here....  so, I went in and I looked around and I had the same feeling as before.  I felt like I was to big to wear these clothes.  However, I know that if I tried them on, they would fit... but somehow I kept haveing the same feeling of why is she in here...

Does anyone else feel this way, when they go into a store..... you know you can wear the clothes, but you feel like you are the biggest girl in the place....

Kendall,

That sounds great!!! To get rid of 12's because they are too big!!! WOW I am so impressed.  I know what you mean about feeling like you are out of place and I will probably feel out of place for a long time to come!!  I will be thrilled to wear a 12.  I am only 4 weeks out and my head is still not around the whole thing! I will be in the plus sizes for a while to come, but I can't wait to be out of them forever!!!!

Congrats to you on your weight loss, you must be so happy!

Unfortunately, I had to delete this message due to privacy concerns.

Got a lap band in 2008. Tried hard, but didn't lose much weight & developed swallowing problems. Fought my insurance company for almost a year & finally had a band to DS revision on 5/11/12. Have now lost 125 pounds. Yay!

Every time I go into Victoria's Secret, I'm sure they are going to kick me out for being too fat for their store.

Hi Kendall,

I have to admit to having the same feelings. I know in my 'head' that I'm small because anyone who wears a size 4 pants has got to be small, but like you when I look at the clothes in a store, I just can't believe that I wear those little clothes and I even find myself still gravitating towards some of the plus sizes now and then. I sometimes almost feel as though I'm masquerading when I'm looking at small sizes. I imagine we'll eventually learn that our 'new' size is our 'normal' size, but I think it may take a while. I know that for me, I have spent all of my adult life as a plus size woman, until the last few months, so it probably is reasonable that it will take some time for me to readjust ... I'll bet that the same may be true for you as well.

Congratulations on all of your success.

Barb

Wow - congrats!  Hopefully you'll make a good chunk of change to help finance that new winter wardrobe you'll be buying!  :)

I bounce back and forth on the mental size thing.  Sometimes I feel little and sometimes I don't.  I think the more time goes on, the more you'll identify with the smaller you.

You and I think a LOT a like! I went to the mall last week, I wear a 4/6 now depending on the cut of the pants and who makes them. I can shop at all the stores now and always feel like I am still the big *240* girl and everyone is staring at me laughing inside saying *hahahaha what is SHE doing in here* I STILL look at pants that are 8/10 and they look so small to me.. I think I do this because I have been thin all my life up until about 8 years ago and I used to be a size 9 which back in the day was when I weighed 125 lbs when a 9 was considered *small* Ive never worn anything smaller then that so now Im like WOW. I try not to get too hung up on sizes. I went Goodwill hunting the other day and last time I went I was a size 14 and they had NOTHING... this time I came away with 8 pairs of pants including calvin klein, liz clayborne, Tommy Hilfiger ect ect some of the sixes were too tight but some of the 4s swam on me.... like I said the designers all cut differently LOL but yes I keep waiting for them to say *get your fat ass out of the store* so you my sweets are not alone
