Been having a bit of a rough time

I need some good thoughts and prayers.  I have not felt so well recently.  My period went into major overdrive and I have lost alot of blood. I am very pale, I am completely zapped of all energy and tested anemic.  My hematicrit (?) was really low too.  I almost got a blood transfusion, and may still need one.  My PCP said the intense bleeding was a result of the massive weight loss (-125 lbs as of today) that caused a hormone rush.  (I have PCOS and apparently there is a lot stored in me.)  I am also under doctor's orders for bed rest and no exercise.   I am scared to stop exercising though I have...I just do not want to break the routine.  Has anyone had anything like this happen?  I was doing so well....I just want to be healthy.

I'm so sorry that you're having these problems. Please make sure too follow your doctor's orders. You'll be up and back to your exercise routine in no time at all. Sometimes a break in the routine is good for you. Hope you feel better soon.

Band to DS

Unfortunately, I had to delete this message due to privacy concerns.

Got a lap band in 2008. Tried hard, but didn't lose much weight & developed swallowing problems. Fought my insurance company for almost a year & finally had a band to DS revision on 5/11/12. Have now lost 125 pounds. Yay!

Actually, I'm dealing with iron issues, and have been for awhile.

I take enough iron to kill my hubby, but my ferritin is still in the toilet.  It's enough to keep my HCT high enough to not raise flags, but it's not the total story.

I'm being referred to a hematologist, and my neuro urged me to get an iron infusion.

I'm *exhausted*, my periods (due to a paragard IUD) are horrible and I'm considering getting "fixed" so they stop sapping me, and I can't focus sometimes.  I'm also drinking coffee like no tomorrow.

So I'm with you, chickie.

Oh Jamilynn, I'm so sorry you're having to go through this...  I also have PCOS and had a hard time with things after WLS (had to have a transfusion, dnc, tried all types of medicines to stop things..  But I had a lot of other female issues also and ended up having to have a hysterectomy (Not that I think you're heading this way...  I was also 43 years old at the time).  You will again be on the right track, just take care of this issue for now and definately follow what the doctor has told you to do... Try to keep a positive attitude!  This too will pass!!!

I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers girl!

JamieLynn,

As always, follow those Dr's orders!  I know it's frustrating to have to break your new healthy routine, but you're sick and your body needs rest to recover...so let it!  :)  This isn't a forever thing, just until you're back on your feet.  Once things get straightened out, you'll be feeling better again and then you can get back into your routine.  Good luck!

(((((Jamie))))),

I'm so sorry that you are struggling, but you are doing the right thing when you listen to the Dr and rest. You need to regain your strength. I absolutely believe that you will get back into the swing of things are resume exercise when it's safe and appropriate for you to do so. You have a great support system, here and of course at home with your own personal cheerleader and trainer.

Hang in there sweetie.

All the best,

Barb

I had not been having a period when I was heavy, then I started loosing the weight and all of a sudden... I had my period... and not for 4 or 7 days but for 30 + DAYS!!  And not light... I was like... bleeding to death.... I just can't even explain how bad it was....  I too went to the doctor and they told me that this happens when you loose a lot of weight and your body is adjusting to your new body.  It was crazy....  I was even scared to leave the house for any amount of time for fear that I would be bleeding all over the place.  :)  If you have ever seen the movie Dirty Love..  just think of the part in the movie in the supermarket.  By the way - the movie is a comedy....

So, I know what your going through and in time.... it will stop.

First of all a big WOW for losing 125 lbs in 4 months...that is absolutely amazing.  I am in menopause and hadn't had a period in 4 months at the time of my surgery.  The day I got home from the hospital, i started one and it was the worse i ever had and lasted 7 or 8 days.  Listen to your doc and no exercise.  You can get back to that when you are feeling beter Jamilynn.

You take care of yourself,

Pam
