Help!! I need advice concerning my PCP records

Hi Everyone,

Well, after waiting FOREVER, I was finally able to pick up  my PCP records for the past 5 years today.  I have a stack of photocopies over 1/2" thick, and they are all mixed up and in terrible disarray.  Also, I am more than a little disappointed in the overall condition of the notes.  My weight is often missing, and when it IS noted, it often looks as if it was penciled in on the side or bottom, which means it is barely visible in the photo-copy!!

My question is, should I go through them and maybe arrange them chronologically, and even possibly highlight my weight and other notes that I know the surgeon & insurance co. are looking for??  I don't know if I'm supposed to "tamper" with the records, or if it would be appreciated.  I definitely want to do anything and everything possible to make my packet easy for someone to examine, but I don't want to do something I'm not supposed to. I'm just so ready for this to start HAPPENING!!!

I would appreciate any input  from those of you who have been through this process.  Thanks so much for your help.  I would be COMPLETELY lost without this board!!!

Love you all!!

Unfortunately, I had to delete this message due to privacy concerns.

Got a lap band in 2008. Tried hard, but didn't lose much weight & developed swallowing problems. Fought my insurance company for almost a year & finally had a band to DS revision on 5/11/12. Have now lost 125 pounds. Yay!

Hi Cathy,
Good for you for getting your records.
My advice is you do what ever you have to do.
You are the one who needs the surgery and you are the one who is going to have to go through it.
I may sound like a ***** but to tell you the truth I have noticed I am speaking up more and standing up for myself.
We are so used to having our self esteem squashed.
Take charge and go for it.

I went through and organized mine also, inlcuding highligting highest weights.  I wanted to make it as easy as possible for the insurance co and the doc's office.  I added a cover sheet for each year that listed the year, doc's name and highest weight.  All of this was seperated by paperclips and placed in an expanable file.  Yeah, I'm a geek.

Good luck to you!
