Final Review....MORE waiting

My chart will be sent to the PA for final review, and if I qualify and no further tests are needed, they will submit to insurance. I am so very excited but at the same time fearful  that something will delay or prevent me from surgery. The coordinator at the doctor’s office said it could take up to two weeks before my file is reviewed, and told me to check my status on their website. Aftering talking with other patients at Duke, I don't think they maintin that portion of their website . I’m hoping and praying all goes well….and soon.

I had my surgery at Duke and getting through all the approvals was a nightmare....  They have to review and then it goes to another review and then a surgery review and then an insurance review and then it goes to some other review.... and then I think they review it one more time.  You will know everything has been reviewed and double checked and checked one more time when you get that surgery date.  By the way - keep on Duke.... if you don't call and ask - where you are... they put your folder to the bottom of the list....  Keep calling and asking and asking and that way they will keep on top of it.

First let me start by saying you look TERRIFIC!

I plan to call again on Monday to check my status. Like the old saying goes "hurry up and wait". Keeping my fingers crossed.

Hi Jennifer,

I know that the admin office at Duke has been having it's share of struggles lately, but please know that their medical staff is top notch. They are also working on getting the admin kinks worked out. While they are training a new staff, they also have many years of experience as team and I believe that you will find that once they have your package ready for insurance approval, it has gone through a rigorous review and you are likely to clear the hurdles that the insurance requires.

Thanks for the encouragement! I checked the Duke site and it says "chart is now complete and will be submitted to insurance in the order it was received"......YIPPY...WHOO-HOO.....WOW....that is great news! Now its up to the insurance company.  Hoping for good news again very soon!
