Charlotte - south side support
I live in the Ballantyne area of Charlotte and find it next to impossible to make it into Uptown for the monthly support meetings. Would anyone like to join me for monthly "meet-ups?" Since it won't be sponsored by a doctor/nurse, we could simply share stories, ideas (and Andrea's vitamin updates!), and get to know each other.
If you're interested, just reply PM me and I'll start an email distribution list.
Thanks,
Laura

Hi Lori,
Thanks for replying... I think we can make it work! Can you PM me with your email address? I'll give it a couple of days to see if anyone else wants to join, then I'll send out an email with date/time/place. Is there a certain day of the week that is BEST for you? Or one that you absolutely CAN'T make?
Thanks again,
Laura

Hi Laura! I would like to explore doing something with you guys, for sure.
Also, I use the Wednesday pm Weigh****chers' meeting in Pineville for my weekly support group. They have been extremely supportive (the leaders and the whole group). And I have gotten some awesome suggestions for the mental and physical part of this journey. Everyone understands that surgey patients don't follow the same eating patterns/programs, and we are all supportive of the various ways that work for different people.
By the way, from now through early October, the Weigh****chers is giving a pound of food for every pound that members lose, so I get double impact from it.
So, if you want to you can come in and check it out for free and see if the environment is one you like. I'd love to have you there.
In the meantime, please keep me in the loop on a southside meet up group! And thanks for volunteering to coordinate it! (my e-mail is robin.weber @ bww.com

Great question!
Monday is out for me. Other than that, it is somewhat flexible. I'm better on a weekday (ie, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday). If Wednesday worked and we met somewhere close to Pineville at say 7:30, that would be awesome cause I could come straight from Weigh****chers. If we are only meeting once a month, tho, I can make any day but Monday work.
Thanks again!
A thought, when we decide on something, you may want to post it as an open meeting so that folks who haven't been able to reply can still drop by.
Any thought on a location?

That's a great suggestion... I'll post it as an open meeting so anyone can attend. I think that somewhere in Ballantyne would work for you (in Ft. Mill) and Lori (in Waxhaw). Maybe Panera at Ballantyne Village (nice couches around the fireplace)? Or a library? I'd like to keep it casual.
I recently read that there is a lot of new stuff being built in Indian Land, which would be close to all of us as well.
Looking forward to it,
Laura

Panera is an awesome place, as their broccoli cheese soup is good for most even early on post op. I know they are open till 9:00.
Ballentyne works good for me (about 15 minutes away)
There's also the Barnes & Noble at Carolina Place - they're open till 11 (I don't think it's much farther for Waxhaw.)
I agree with the casual atmosphere too.
I'll keep my eyes open for things opening on 521 in Indian Land. With Sun City growing, there's a lot of stuff going in.

Me me me!
I'm in Steele Creek and I'm having a DS on Nov 3. I'm really looking forward to it, and I'd love to find some local support. Ft. Mill and Ballantyne are right down the right from me.
Wednesdays are out for me, any other day is fine.
