I had surgery on July 22. Lap RNY. All went well until the next day when my kidneys shut down and they suspected I had a leak.  That lead to an upper GI which lead to emergeny surgery(they told my famiy if they didn't do surgery I would die but with the surgery I had a small chance of survival.
To make a long story short I will add as follows:
2nd surgery
fixed leak, but my lungs aspirited(sp) the barium from the upper gi and that was not good then my whole body shut down and they had to use life support. One dr. self bagged me for 2 hours(bless his whole heart!) they came out and told my family I would not make it thru the night.  My whole family was there(my dad who is also my pastor, my mom, 3 sisters, 1 bro. and about 1/2 of our church and my best friends gathered in prayer and they prayed and prayed and the dr. came out after about 10 mins. and said i had responded and I had a chance. Praise God! Anyways after that they had to put me in a coma which I stayed in for 2 weeks. After the 2 weeks the took out the tube and woke me up. I didn't know where I was for about a week and didn't have any idea about what had happened to me.
I stayed in CCU for about 2 weeks and then transerred to a step-down room where I started Pt.After about a week 1/2 I transferred to a rehabiliation center and stayed for 10 days. I am now home and doing good. I just have to have pulmonary rehabilitation and some more pt. Will share more later.  I have lost at least 60 lbs. Sure was the hard way to start.

Oh Deb I am so sorry for what you have been through! I am glad that you are ok now and working on getting 100%. I know your family must have been a nervous wreck. Thank God for the miracle of prayer. He is wonderful isn't He!! If there is anything I can do for  you or your family please don't hesitate to ask.

I'm so glad to hear that you had such caring medical care and that you have survived the early part of the journey and hopefully will be moving forward on a gentler road as you continue your amazing transformation.

Wishing you all the best,

Good golly, Ms. Deb!  I was reading with baited breath until I got to your, "now home and doing good."  ~~~Exhale!~~~  That definitely was not the route to take to get started but so glad to hear you are now SAFELY on the loser's bench, and 60 pounds lighter to boot!
