Post-op and HUNGRY!
Hi guys I hope that everyone is doing good. Well, today is day 6 of the post-op diet and I'm hungry
!! I know that several people has been where I am, and wanted to know what you did
or if you ate something at this point. Not anything big because my stomach will not allow me too. But maybe some sugar-free applesauce or a creamy soup. Please help!

Hey girl, I had RNY 8/14 so I totally understand how you are feeling. I would call your surgeon but fat free/sugar free jello helped me, pudding, cream of potato soup and refried beans in the blender. Just take it slow and take it easy. The first few weeks suck. Trust me it will get better. I remember people telling me that but it didn't seem like that at the time.

When I did atkins I would take 1 container of cottage cheese, 1 container of strawberry or cherry jello. Put the powder in it. Mix and add cool whip. It is a nice feeling sweet treat but also good for you. When you can eat fruits you can add pineapple to it. That is what I plan on doing until I can transition to food.

I know that some folks say that they don't feel hungry, but like you, I wasn't so fortunate. I will say that you need to check with your Dr and/or Nut to be sure that you are following their guidelilnes re: what to consume and when, because dietary guidelines and restrictions are probably one of the biggest variances from program to program. Just let them know how you are doing and what you are consuming. They will let you know what you should and/or shouldn't be trying while sticking with their preferred regimen.
Wishing you every success,

I was hungry pretty early on too, although I did find that drinking would fill me up (especially that early.) It is very important that you follow Dr's recommendations on what you can eat & when, because that has a direct correlation to how well you heal.
Try to use this as an opportuntiy to define the differrence between real hunger and head hunger. I'm not belittling the way you're feeling, but I dealt with some pretty serious head hunger early on. Your mind tells you that you can't possibly be satisfied without "real food." But your new little pouch is differrent. It is just beginning to heal, and the liquids really are enough for it at this point.
Go ahead and call your Dr. He/she may allow you to advance to full liquids a little early, but may also be able to explain why you need to hold off. Either way, hang in there...you're doing great so far! Remember...this is temporary and about a month from now you're going to be so proud of yourself for sticking with the plan! :) Good luck!

Hi! I just wanted to let you know that I felt the same way you do. In fact, I was starting to wonder if the surgery worked at all! One thing that I did not know, but wished I had: during the first weeks after surgery your nerves are dead... and you won't fill full. That's why you have to measure and limit what you consume.
But at 4 1/2 months out now, I find that my hunger is actually lessening... and I've become a new person. Good luck!
