6 month checkup...2 wks after

Well I went for my 6 month checkup today and I dont know anymore than I did when I went in. LOL they drew blood and I assume I will hear from that soon. I seen the new RN at my Docs office and he was real nice. He said he was pleased with my weight loss. I have lost 110lbs since surgrey on 2/25 according to their scales. Mine still have an extra 3lbs on them. I am getting over a stomach bug from Sunday and think that helped kick in some extra weight loss.  The last time I went to the doc they said they would decide at the 6 months if they wanted to do another endoscopy to check on my ulcer. Well It pains me to say that they decided to go ahead with another one. It will be next Friday at 9 am. I cried the whole time during the last one and gagged on the doc. I do not want to do this again. I am still having pains from it and that is why they are going to do it again to see if it is any better or if it will require surgery. Atleast during the surgrey I would be asleep. I really hated thelast endoscopy. Anyways thats my news for the day. 110 lbs gone in 6 months and 2 wks. Amazing! I have a grand total of 144 since last Sept the 30th! I really can't believe it is all gone. I wi**** was more but know that in time I will make this work and lose the rest. I only have 100 lbs to go until goal. Only 60 to the docs goal. Thanks to all of you on this board for your support. I read alot of posts and feel very inspired. Now I need to go pickup limbs left over from Hanna. She was a mean landscaping storm for us. Limbs everywhere, 1 tree and our privacy fence. Atleast it wasn't the house tho!!

Congrats Melissa on the 110 lbs weight loss! I'm still waiting for word back from Helen on when I get my surgery we are hoping for Sept 22. I can't wait to be on the losing side. Sorry you have to have another endoscopy but I hope it all goes well. I had one a few months ago by Dr. Mlot and I didn't have any problem but had some good meds that made me sleep alot. Keep up the good work!

Thanks Cindy. It wont be long before you are on the bench then the past will only be a memory. Sometimes I wonder even tho ithas only been 6 months, how life was so bad that i gained the weight I did. Albeit hard at times it was well worth the surgery.

Thanks again

Your welcome Melissa. Did you have to do a special diet 2 weeks before surgery with Dr. Miles? According to Hedi the nut we are, but when I went Friday for my 3rd visit Helen or the doc never mentioned it. I went to GNC and got some protein drinks and have been drinking them, some are good and some are just nasty lol. I was told that after the surgery that my taste buds will change and I want like the same stuff then that I do now, did that happen with you?

Thanks,
Cindy

Yes I did have to cut my carbs back to 50 grams a day 2 weeks before surgery. It is to help shrink your liver is what they say. As for the taste buds, I didn't like anything before and I don't so much no either lol. I have and probably always will be a very picky eater.I drank lo carb slim fast before surgery and liked the chocolate and vanilla. Now I only like the vanilla so I guess it changed some.

Melissa,

I am sooo impressed!  -110 at 6 months.  That is just unbelievable!  My personal goal is to have lost 100 by my 6 month point so you definitely give me some hope, girl!

I'm so sorry about the ulcer and the additional endoscopy.  Hopefully this will be the last one for you and you'll show signs of healing taking place so you won't have to have surgery either.

Good luck with the next 100!  I KNOW you are going to reach YOUR goal!  {{{Hugs}}}

Thanks Shauna. I bet you will lose that 100 lbs in the 6 months too. You seem like a very determined person. I haven't been. I had times when I wanted to give up and if they would have , reversed the whole thing. I guess a Dr. Pepper just isn't the best excuse for reversing of your stomach! LOL. Ihope this is the last endoscopy also. I hate them! I am still having symptoms so that is why they are doing another. Oh well.

Thanks again
Melissa

Wow Melissa, you're over halfway there!  Congrats on a job very well done in only 6 months!  Sorry about the endoscopy...hopefully this one will be an easier experience than last time.  Let us know when you get your labs back, how all of that looks too!
