It's been 4 weeks since surgery

While I've been hearing so many stories lately of people having difficulties after surgery I just have to say - I LOVE MY RNY!!!!!!!! It's been 4 weeks today and I cannot tell that I've had any surgery let alone major abdominal surgery.

This week has been better for me as far as getting in all of my protein. Yesterday I got all 60g through my meals and snack alone. There is so much trial and error to this stage. I have not touched bananas or my banana protein shake mix since the dumping episode. I will eventually but right now that episode is fresh on my mind and I don't want a repeat.

The Bathroom Goddess - my scales - read 270.0 this morning. That's down 24.7 lbs since the morning of surgery and 30 lbs since my last pre-op appointment with Dr. Mac. I go by the pre-op - it's much easier to calculate in my head - a robust 300 lbs.

I really hope that our newest newbies can have as painless of a transition into their new lives as I have had. I still can't believe that I've done it. They say it takes the brain a while to catch up with the body and that stalls can be a result of this. I'm ready for that as well - my scales haven't budged in 3 mornings - Who cares? I really don't. My Friday weigh in is the only one I record and hopping on the scales is a throw back to bad, old diet habits. I really need to chunk the thing out the window.

I have to brag on my oldest son for a minute. When I started doing my 6 month diet program he decided to do that with me. He's cute out a whole lot of stuff from his personal menu (carbs & refined sugar) he's sorta doing a modified South Beach / Sugar Busters diet. He started this weighing around 350. As of this morning he weighs ...................302. I'm so proud of him. He's doing something I never could. He is reaping the added benefit of all the sf, lf and low carb stuff in the house and he's cut back on portion sizes tremendously.

Gotta go back to work now. Hope everyone has a great day and successfully dodges TS Hannah this weekend.

That is fantastic Iris.   I wish you continued success which i know you will have.   Three or Four years ago my son who would have been 15 or 16 decided to do w****chers with me.   He lost 25 lbs and got down to 150 within about 5 or 6 weeks and has kept it off all those years.   Mind you, he works hard at it and walks 8 to 10 miles a day for exercise plus wts but much more than i could ever do.  Kudos to your son too!!

Iris, you are doing so well!  Didn't this first month fly by?  Please tell your son how proud we are of him!  That is a major accomplishment for a young man!
