Going to get that generator

Lee and I are going to go buy a generator this morning.
Then unfortunatly he is going to have to work the rest of the weekend.
Sooo my plans today are to do all the laundry and get prepared.
I know Hanna is not going to be a big storm and it seems to be moving quickly.
Ike is the next one so I am going to just do things at home to make me feel ready for what ever happens.
I hope to get some of my Buffy game in today because if the power goes out no more Buffy for a few days.
Thank you to all who have offered to take us in if we need a place to go.
I guess I am like the Capt. of my ship I plan to ride it out to the end.
I am in a better place physically and location than I was when Fran hit years ago.
Lee pointed out to me I can take a shower even if the power goes out it wont be hot but at least I can shower.
When Fran hit I was on a well but we are on city water so this is good.

Lee was in the NG so I should be ok

Sounds like you are doing all the right things, Annie!  A generator would be a nice thing to have.  I know it would bring me a lot of peace of mind.  We've discussed getting one but haven't done so yet.  Power outages due to wind and/or ice happen here in our part of the mountains at least once or twice a year.  Thankfully all the winters have been mild since we moved here, but that probably won't last forever!  Good luck and check in when you can.  I'm thinking of all of you there out in ENC!  {{{Hugs!!!}}}

If you have the generator you are way less likely to ever have to use it so that is a good plan no matter how you look at it. You aren't in the country so you will most likely be just fine. WE are further inland so I am thinking we will be okay here. I am a little concerned about my Aunt and cousins living in the Myrtle Beach area though. I think I will give them a call today.

We have a generator for the house and so far since we bought it we have only had to use it twice. Its a great thing to have especially living so close to the coast like I do. Im hoping the power is not off for too long, we live in a new sub division so the power lines are underground. In any case Im ready and so are the fur babies. My husband and all his Marines are freaking out and want to come home to take care of their wives and children. I offered anyone that wants to come stay with me that is also alone like me to come over my house. Best of luck to you and Lee!!

We can get through this Darcie,
You are a strong person and a Marine.
Lee gave me my first lesson on starting the generator.
We bought one with an electric start so if he is stuck at the store and cant get home I can start it up.
I have never done anything like starting a generator before but now I can do it.
On my way to get some stuff to make stew.
Hang in there darcie you are in my thoughts.
Hugs to your fur and feathered babies.

Of all the times for my generator to be out of commission. It's pretty old and we've got it in the shop. Supposed to be ready in a week or so. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I don't need it.

Sounds like you have it all together!    Hopefully Lee won't get stuck at work, but if he does I know you'll do fine!  Good luck girl!

I think I'm ready for Hanna and Ike now too - thank God!  Rex bought me a generator as a house warming gift, so that's set.  I went around outside and put a lot of stuff in my shed .  I think I got everything.  I'm worried about my chickens, roosters and the ducks, I'm sure they'll be fine.  Rex is on his way now, he says he has to be here to take care of me, the cats and the ****ateils.  Isn't that sweet, but truthfully I feel better knowing he'll be here.  This is my first storm of this strength and then right on it's heels is Ike.  I hope I'm off work when that one gets here!  I do have to work this weekend and I know it's going to be busy.  I hope I don't get stuck there but I"m packing an emergency bag just in case.  I already have a change of clothing in my car so I just have to pack a few things other than food.  I just hope people use their brain on Camp Lejeune, MCAS, Camp Johnson and Camp Geiger and not try to do anything dumb in this weather - but you know how it is.  Any time you have a LOT of people there are bound to be some dummies who think nothing will happen to them.  WIsh me luck!

Someone told me to pu****er in my bathtub so if the power goes out we can use the water from the tub in the toilet to flush with.

Anyway, I hope all goes well for you!

Hi Sheryl,
That is so nice Rex will be with you.
about the water in the tub to flush yes this is true if you have a well.
If you are on city water you dont need to worry about that.
I had my first lesson on starting the generator and I think I can do it if I had too.
I just made a huge pot of stew.
I still cook for an army LOL Lee can eat like an army.
I used cube steak thinking I maybe able to handle the cube steak instead of stew beef.
Hugs to you and your feathered babies.

Hey Annie...hopefully you will be far enough away so you won't get much more than rain.   Being without electricity is another issue as i would have a fit without my computer.    Take care,

Pam

From my understanding even tho we have wireless and if we loose power I still wont be able to connect.
I will be able to play my Dracula game if nothing else LOL
I have completed all the laundry and as I was putting it up I thought about not so long ago it took sometimes a week to get it all done.
If I have to I guess I could plug my treadmill into the generator LOL.
