My gallbladder has made me postpone my surgery-repost

Cholecystitis - which is an inflammation of the gallbladder. Acute cholecystitis is nearly always due to gallstones but may be due to infection (bacterial).

The above infection and numerous gallstones has caused my surgeon to postpone my RNY from Monday until 10-07-09.  Instead, on Monday he will be taking out my Gallbladder.  My liver numbers were off the charts and aparently the attack that I suffered on Monday night is still working on my liver and like the doctor put it "the liver is very angry right now".  So, even though I am quite sad that I will be delayed in my weight loss, I am happy that I have lost 10 lbs in the last 3 weeks and I would not want the surgeon to put me in any danger by operating on me while I still had an infection....so.  Pray for me on Monday and I will hope that nothing gets in my way next month.

Unfortunately, I had to delete this message due to privacy concerns.

Got a lap band in 2008. Tried hard, but didn't lose much weight & developed swallowing problems. Fought my insurance company for almost a year & finally had a band to DS revision on 5/11/12. Have now lost 125 pounds. Yay!

Thanks for your well wishes.  Acording to the surgeon, if I only had stones he could take it out at the same time as the surgery.  Since the gallbladder is extremely infected and the liver is now having problems.  He does not want to do it all at once due to possible complications.  I am on antibiotics now and feel better but I have had terrible pain in my upper abdomen since Monday night.  I can't even eat since it is very uncomfortable. But, everything happens for a reason.

Everyone take care,

Tracy

Ah Tracy.  I haven't been able to read the board as thoroughly as I'd like for about the past week, so I didn't know about the attack you suffered until reading this now.  I hate it you are going through this, now of all times!  By October 7 your liver will surely be a happy camper once again and will behave for your RNY.  Good luck with your gallbladder removal and congrats on your 10 lb. loss!  Will definitely be thinking of you!

Having to postpone your RNY really is very frustrating. It must feel even worse knowing you still have to have a surgery on that day. I hope the doc can get in there and work his magic so that when your new date gets here you will have a safe and healthy surgery. It really will get here before you know it. Mine is finally getting here. I was supposed to have mine on August 4th but had to postpone so I could get rid of a bronchial infection. I hope you feel better soon.

My prayers are with you! Hope you have a speedy recovery and your liver will have a good month to get back to normal before your RNY.

Take care and God Bless,

Pam
