Andrea, need your help placing this order...

I am needing to place an order for more shampoo, etc. from LuckyVitamin in the next week or so.  What do you think of these B-12 lozenges and this Calcium Citrate powder?  I think they will be suitable, but you are much more aware than I am at this point!  As for a multi, I've decided to start out with the Centrum chewable.

Thanks a bunch for helping me out!

And we've found another source of dishonest supplement packaging!  Winner winner winner!

Err.. sorry.

That citrate powder is lying to you.  There is *no* way in hell that 1 teaspoon contains 700mg of elemental calcium.  Noppers.

Rather, it has 700mg of calcium citrate, but only 21% of the calcium citrate molecule is actually elemental calcium.

Doing the math, each teaspoon will only have 147mg of elemental calcium in it.  In order to get your 1500mg minimum each day, you'll need 11 teaspoons.  To get the 2000mg, then you'd need 14 teaspoons.  Daily.  Throughout the day.

Current thoughts are that we only absorb about 500mg of elemental calcium at once, so you would have to space your doses out accordingly.

Deceptive marketing sucks.

As for the b-12.. it looks fine.

So glad that the B-12 looks fine but what the H - - L do i order/take for calcium?!  The only other powder/chewable/liquid possibilities that I see through LuckyVitamin are Kal Chewables or LifeTime Vitamins High Potency Liquid  in Blueberry, Strawberry, or Grape (sounds ewww to me).  If none of these, then can you just please tell me what to get and where I can get it?  Then you can send my your bill.  I hope you are game for a monthly payment plan because I know I'm racking it up here!

At this point, I would ditch this company's calcium until you start taking pills.

Go to vitamin world and pick up their calcium citrate chewables.. I've heard that they are pretty decent and the labeling is not questionable at all.

Is this what you are talking about?  Citrate isn't mentioned but it's the only calcium chewable I can find on their website.

I couldn't find it online, either.. I just know they have it.  Their website isn't exactly winning awards if you know what I mean.

If you're ordering from the web, a good friend of mine gets her calcium citrate from buildingblocks.com and she loves them.

I am taking Tropical Oasis Liquid Calcium Magnesium, 1 TBS is supposed to give me 1200 mg. I get it a GNC.

1) The body only absorbs about 500mg of elemental calcium every 2 hours.

2) I'd be leery (sp) that this is really 1200mg of *elemental* calcium, which is the standard for which RDAs are established by the government.  However, supplement companies can fudge a bit on the RDA % in the instance of the larger molecule supplements (like calcium citrate).

Yeah, that is why i don't take it all at once!  The elemental calcium is 367mg per tablespoon. so a tablespoon 4x daily gets it done.

Yay.  Someone who doesn't always believe the supplement labels.

Good for you.  (not sarcastic, really.. don't have the energy to be sarcastic today anyway).
