Sharing my day...

Hey Ladies!

I thought I would share a bit of my day with you for all the preops still considering and wondering if WLS is right for them. Let me tell you this-- IT IS! Today, James and I got up and decided to run some errands.  I decided yesterday I wanted to "decorate" a bit for fall...I LOVE this time of the year! I'm just ready for it to be cooler! Anyway, we picked up a few things yesterday and found a few more today. Well, we went to a couple stores, had lunch and came back home. I put everything up, cleaned up, then realized I needed more fall garland. I went back to Walmart (with a stop by Ross), came home and finished the inside and outside deocrations. I then asked James about the shurbs (they needed trimming BAD). He said "you want to do that today?!" I knew he probably wouldn't want to, but needless to say since he was offering I said "Sure". I said "If you cut them, I'll go behind and pick all of it up".  So, that is what we did... I then swept the front porch, cooked dinner (with DH) and cleaned up all the dishes!

All this to say-- i NEVER IN A MILLION YEARS would have had the energy to GO GO GO like I did today and not even stop. James was like "What has gotten into you? You have so much energy and sometimes I want the 'old' Melinda back." I said TOO BAD!!!! haha  The energy I have is awesome. I can walk, walk walk and not even get winded... I barely even break a sweat! A lot of times we'd go grocery shopping in Walmart and I would be sweltering I was so hot... It's such a great feeling to be able to do "stuff"... I just started a new job working on campus, so some days we will walk to lunch. Before i would have gotten the car and driven, now I'll walk all the way across campus and be able to keep up with the people I'm walking with!!! I know some of this may seem small to some people, but I knew you would understand!

So to all of you LURKERS out there, if you are wavering about WLS, please use this as a big GO FOR IT. I truly believe you won't regret it!!!  Thanks for letting me share and have a great week!!!

Congratulations on your new found energy levels. Sounds like you have accomplished quite a bit on Labor Day. I myself did absolutely nothing and I enjoyed every minute of it.

Hope the new job is rewarding and that you're enjoying it.

Have a great week.

Hey Iris!

I hope you are doing well!!! I'm glad you were able to enjoy your weekend. My new job is going very well and having more energy has only helped things! :) I have to park and walk a good ways to my office so that has been a blessing.

Enjoy your week and hopefully I'll see you soon!

Wow, you are making me tired just reading all the stuff you did today!  Seriously, I agree with you about the wonderful "side effects" of WLS, all the new found energy, shopping and buying smaller clothes :-), getting off prescription meds, etc.  It's a miracle surgery and as you said before to the lurkers.... GO FOR IT!

Love your new fall ticker!  You really are into the season!  And how about those Pirates??????

We had a pretty productive weekend, but doing these things just makes me want to do more! HAHA... I do love having this newfound energy!  Buying new sizes are awesome! I'm already too small for most of those clothes you gave me! it's amazing to see a 1x too big when I was barely fitting into some 5xs!!! What a change!

Anyway, yeah, I'm really into it. I figure it's Sept 1 so it's OK to be "into fall" so early. *HEHE*

Yeah, our boys did a great job on Saturday!!! I only wish I had gone with some of my friends! I did watch it on ESPN though and cheered them on! Let's hope we have the same outcome this Saturday when West VA comes to town! Go Pirates! :)

Email me and we'll do lunch one day soon.

You give me a lot of hope!  I'm pre-op and my BMI is about where you were when you started.  I feel like my BMI is so high compared to so many others on the list who have BMIs in the 40 when they started.  Hearing of your success really makes me feel more at ease about doing this!

Hey Meredith!

I'm so glad to read your post! At my heaviest (as you can see from my siggy) I was around 373. It could have been more, but that was the most we found on my medical record.  I stayed around 350 for most of the time, lost a bit on WW and then gained it back... I was 334 when I had surgery.  It took me some time to come to the conclusion that WLS was right for me, but once I decided I haven't looked back!  You will be so happy you made this life changing decision! There are a few bumps in the road as with anything, but overall it will be one of the best things you ever did for yourself!

I look forward to hearing from you as you proceed through this process. Do you have a surgery date yet?  We have a get-together here in Greenville that I organize and would love to have you join us. We've only had one so far, but I hope to have another one again soon. It is typically held on a Saturday; jus****ch for the updates here on OH.

Good luck and keep me posted on your progress!

Great, I'd love to join y'all.  I don't have a surgery date yet.  I'm still in process.  I see my Diet Nazi... um, psych evaluator, again in about 2 more weeks.  I think she is expecting me to have lost quite a bit of weight, but alas, I think I've lost less than 10 lbs in 4 weeks.  I confess, I found brownie mix in my cupboard and I indulged.  My husband also bought me little snack sized bags or cookies and crackers for school lunches, but they're really not good for me.  I've also had cookie dough in my refridgerator for over a month.  Little by little I've had a few cookes here and there.  I suppose I should be proud that I haven't gorged myself on this stuff in one sitting.  I've been really trying to watch portions and cut out some of the things I've been so accustomed to.

Hi Melinda,

Congratulations! You really have embraced this new life with gusto. I wish you continued success and renewed energy as you continue your incredible journey and the metamorphosis that you are undergoing. The changes that we undergo at so multi-faceted; the outward signs of our weightloss are so apparent to others, but the lifestyle changes that we undergo are easily as tremendous if not more so.

Wishing you continued success in your journey of your new self.

Warmly,

Barb
