New Gal
Hi Missy,
I'm delighted to meet you and look forward to getting to know you as you make this incredible, life-changing journey. I had the RNY instead of a band and while I know that some of the specifics of the journey vary from procedure to procedure, the bulk of it is very similar. It has absolutely changed my life in more ways than I can articulate. I didn't really know quite how much my life had been altered by my obesity until I shed the pounds.
It's normal to be nervous ... not only are you about to have a surgical procedure, but you are embarking on a new life and change is always a little scary; but it's also a lot exciting.
Wishing you every success as you make your way on this incredible and wonderful journey.
All the best,
Barb

"Don't count the moments but make the moments count!!"
I had the Realize band on June 10 and had my first fill last week. Surgery wasn't bad at all. My surgery was in the afternoon and I didn't sleep that night mostly due to the fluids from the IV making me have "to go" constantly. I walked around that night and had a little nausea, but it wasn't bad. I didn't have any pain meds after the surgery. The next day I felt better, but I was moving a little slow. The port site hurt the worst and that pain lasts for a couple of weeks. It's a sharp, pulling pain. It helped me to hold the site when I was getting up and down. Make sure you drink as many fluids as you can after surgery so you don't get dehydrated cause that will make you feel worse. I went back to work the next week, just no heavy lifting. If you have any questions just let me know. Good luck!
