Hey guys!!  My hubby just got home last night after being gone for 6 weeks and we want  to take a little overnight trip Sunday and Monday and we decided to see what we could get into, in the Wilmington area. I have lived here for 11 years and have only been to Wilmington once..LOL But we are looking for something kid friendly to keep their attention and not too expensive...any suggestions would be great!! Jami,

They have monkey joes (building full of inflatables) which is really cheap and parents can play too!!  Theres a childrens museum which you get a military discount.  Theres a zoo thats not to big but Addy liked it of course she loves animals.  And you and your hubby have to go walk down in the historic downtown Wilmington by the riverwalk, they also have trolleys and horse drawn carriages you can take.  Theres a bunch of shops and restraunts.  Theres also the battleship!!  Theres a water park with laser tag and indoor playground called jungle rapids. Theres a restraunt called Wilsons Restraunt and they have dining and on the other side they have a huge game room.  I had went to some of these places with my mom and addy, I had fun as an adult.
Hope this helps.

I don't know how old your children are, but the suggestions above were good for most ages.  There is also a great aquarium at Fort Fisher which is just south of Wilmington (still in the Wil area) The ferry ride over to Southport is well worth the time also and Southport is a great little town.  That would make a great afternoon trip out of Wilmington.

We LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Wilmington!

If you scrap, there are 2 stores that have scrapbook stuff...  AC Moore and JoAnnes. They are both off College Drive and across the street from each other.   AC Moore is in the same shopping center as TJ Maxx and JoAnnes is in the shopping center where Lowes, Sams and Old Navy, among others.

There is a also a really nice new shopping center down Military Cutoff street.

Sticky Fingers is a great rib resturant on 17, not far from the 2 shopping centers above.

Have a blast and enjoy your time together.

Hi, I've not posted here on the boards yet, but wanted to wish you a great time here in the Wilmington area.  Holden beach is my favorite here, its usually not crowded at all. Just follow hwy 17 toward Shallotte The Battleship was fun for my family... I didn't go, was afraid I wouldn't fit.  We have some great restrants and many cool places to visit... a drive down College should give you lots to chose from.

Anyway, hi to everyone, you will be hearing more from me.

Hey Jamie....after him being gone for 6 weeks, wish i lived close to you so i could babysit your kids and give you and hubby some romantic alone time.    I am 53 yrs old with a 19 yr old so no hope for grandbabies for quite a while (i hope).   We live north of Charlotte where there are a lot of families from out of state (as we are).  Think i need to hook up with a young couple at church and be a surrogate grandma to their kids.

Have a great time!

Pam

p.s...did u ever get things straightened out with Tricare?

At Wilson's restaurant there is a buffet or you can order off the menu. For $10.00 the kids get pizza, drink , fries, cookie and $10.00 worth of tokens to play games. My sons loves it. We go there whenever we are in Wilmington.

The other stuff mentioned is always great too. I love the area.

with God all things are possible.
