Thyroid Medication is a MIRACLE!
I have been blaming my diagnosis of fibromyalgia for having little to no energy. Yesterday morning, I got up at 6 a.m. Took both of the kids to school at 7:20 then made it to my PCP's office by 8. Normally I would have left there to come home and CRASH. I mean seriously recuperate for a day or two, just that much activity would wipe me out. But, after I left my PCP's, I came home for just a little bit and then left to have lunch with my son and a friend! Came home for a short time after that then left to go pick up my son early at school, head to the attorney's to sign mortgage papers, walked my son over to the bakery for a treat, picked up my daughter from the high school, stopped for gas, went in to the bank to get some wiring info, took the kids to pick up some dinner AND I still had plenty of energy!!! I came home, felt great, had a fun evening with hubby (playing Yahoo billiards...get yer mind outta the gutter! hehe), and went to bed at a decent hour still feeling good. Now before, there would have been at least a week's recuperation taking place after a day like that, but this morning I got up and got ready to go meet the ladies at the coffee shop for lunch!
YIPPEE!!!! I feel like the fog has lifted...I feel HUMAN again!!!! I honestly think it is the thyroid medication that has made this difference for me. Has anyone else had an experience with thyroid medication like this? I can't wait to see my numbers when they come back.
Starting to feel a bit tired this afternoon, but heck, I'm not used to this! Hubby is so happy for me. He's really noticing a big difference too. Can you even imagine how great I am going to feel after the surgery and the weight starts to fall off?! HOLY COW!
About 6 weeks after my RNY I was still dragging and couldn't hardly function but still went to work every day. Went and saw the surgeon who said everything is fine. My 76 year old mom insisted i have my PCP check my thyroid (i was on synthroid from 14 to 33) as i also started to not lose wt. Sure enough the test came back and i was low. I started the synthroid and within 2 weeks i was a new woman and the scale moved again. It is amazing what a little pill can do. I was actually excited when i was told it was low as at least there was a reason. And it is true, after the wt loss, your energy level goes up even more. I went from 328 to 230 now and it is amazing how much energy i have. My poor husband says i am tiring him out by dragging him all over the place to do things with me (he doesn't have a wt problem) and said with another 80 or 90 lbs, he won't be able to keep up..lol. That is a good thing!
Take care, Pam
