IUD Blues
Ok so I had this MIrinia (SP) done in June and maybe have had 2 days of not bleeding or spotting. Last of July they did a ultra sound to make sure it was where it was suppose to be since he couldn't see the string. It was there, no dought or I wouldn't be going through this. Oh yea I still have heavy monthly periods ontop of the regular issue. Two weeks ago I had had enough!!! I went in for them to take it out and after alot of digging, yes digging, he just could not get my cervix's open enough to so or get the string. So he calls around looking for this small instrument, he discribes as identical to a croche' hook. They have one at the hospital, probably his old one so he says. I don't have time to go to the hospital. Another Doctor just ordered on so when she, (and she is a real nut like nutty and slack) gets it in they will lone it to him and he will call me. Oh yes he says to take darvocet and Phinagin(sp) and have someone drive me cause of the drugs and "yes it will still be very painful cause they will have to dilate me like having a DNC" and they will have to insert this thing and try to hook up to the IUD to remove it. I hope that is all they remove!!!! Oh he wasn't charging me the last time I was there since I have issues with this IUD. Ok on top of it he wants me to start with a Birthcontroll pill to get me in cycle and if it stops the bleeding well I could always leave the IUD and do this too!!! I think not....I feel like S..t and since starting this pill this week I have gained 5.....yes 5 pounds now down to just 4 pounds...ain't no way it is from eating or that last week I started back to the gym. I don't have that much muscle yet. This is so agrivating!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

i feel your pain
i got the mirena 11/06 ( 5 wks after my son was born)
it was awful. i bled for 13 months and then TMI- i had this ooky discharge for the next 5 months. it was always something.
i have YET to go a day without wearing a pantyliner.
i have also contemplated having it removed but i dont do too well on the pill (nausea). The past 4 months i have had my period like normal and it doesnt last long so i may wait it out,
sorry you are having to go thru all of this. its crazy!! please make sure you report this to the company who makes mirena. they supposedly keep track of this.

I'm seriously thinking of having my Paragard pulled.. I have these *huge* horrible periods that have me bleeding like crazy for 10 days straight. My ferritin keeps dropping, and I think this is one reason.
I'm looking at having the Essure procedure done.. it's a non-surgical sterilization for women. Def. worth taking a gander at.

My DH had a vasectomy many years ago, so I was on no birh control, but was having major problems with heavy periods. My GYN suggested a Hydro Thermal Ablation (HTA) rather than having to have a hysterectomy. After lots of research I agreed and am I ever glad I did. I have had no period since!! The HTA destroyed the lining of my uterus so no worry about pregnacy either!! Not that I need to, but just in case one of those wiggles decides to find a way around the vasectomy I am safe!! LOL

Ok girl... I feel your pain and I'm sorry you're having to go through all this!!! I had one 4 years ago and didn't stop for 6 months straight (I also had Polycycstic Overies, Fibroids and Endo so that was most of the problem, but the Mirena was supposed to help - ugh!). We tried everything so my doc took it out and it kept on for another 6 months, then I had to have a hysterectomy because we couldn't get anything to stop it! But now I don't have to worry about it any more... I just have to take my Premerin and I'm fine - heaven forbit I forget that Premerin though... whooo wheeee! Talk about mood swings and hot flashes!!!! Oh my.... Anyway, I hope they can get you all straightened out soon!!!!!

Huh. I have a paragard IUD and I love it -- as much as one can love an IUD. I had one between my third and fourth children, and I actually pulled it out myself when dh and I decided we were ready to have another. It has never caused me any issues, and I recommend it.
I always worry about the hormones with the Mirena...

I don't want anymore hormones and the hubby won't get his mess taken care of. I do believe the weight gain is from this also. This is so aggrivating not to mention I have not had any weight loss since May...that is what I may had lost being down to 144 is back up to 149. Those numbers do mess with the head still even though I know it is a head thing. I don't need any help in getting fat. You know how it is when you get so aggrivated with not losing and having issues on top of it you just want to eat....or drink something sweet.
