We almost got our house blown down.. again (did we move back to KY and noone tell me?  I'm not used to two warnings less than 8hours apart in NC).. Annie's area apparantly is in need of row-boats..

Everyone safe from the storms?

Glad to hear you're okay, Andrea.  Somehow the winds just happened to swoop around us this time around.  We normally get the brunt and lose lots of trees, etc.  Our friends who live just a few miles away ended up losing a huge tree and being without electricity for a while.

I am so sad while watching Gustav head toward the gulf coast.  Wondering how much of an impact it will have, where, and wondering how much we'll get as a result?  Also dreading tropical depression 8 which should be named today and is heading toward the east coast.  I'm a HAWK when it comes to weather watching...and it's definitely that time of year!

Hi Andrea,

Andrea,

We have had lots and lots of rain - some minor flooding in the area and some power outages.  Cleveland County...
Glad to hear that you are still standing and that Annie has not had to get out a row boat!

Take care,
Shelia

I woke up to a rainy morning. When I opened the door to let the dogs out they all stopped - looked at me like I was nuts - then they turned around (almost in unison) and went back to bed. Youngest son wasn't happy that  the dogs and his brother were still asleep while he was getting ready for school.

It's going to be a long, drawn out day today.

I only got about 30 minutes of heavy rain and a few sprinkles here and there... Sorry to those of you who have had a hard time!  I swear I have an umbrella over my house, I have a pond that looks more like a mud hole than a pond, and the koi fish and ducks aren't liking it very much!  lol  Anyway, I hope all is well!

Hi Andrea,

I was watching the national news this morning and just saw that we had 9 inches of rain in Raleigh. I need to call Ben to see if we have swimming pool in the basement.

I'm glad that you are okay.

Nothing to speak of in my neighborhood just South East of Greensboro. But my basement has about an inch of standing water and we are supposed to keep getting more rain. Sent email to landlord and DH spent an hour with his little shop vac taking up the water. (Note to self - Don't buy a house with a basement unless it is new construction and I inspect the installation of the basement foundation as its being built) Dogs don't like wet and so I am cleaning up after them way too much right now.
Daughter's new job with the police force is bogged down with report writing for auto accidents. So much for the exciting side of law enforcement! LOL!

 Hi Andrea,

Charlotte received about 9 inches of rain over 3 days, so some areas were flooded.  However, our area was fine -- and we desperately needed the rain.   Hope you get some rest tonight!  Laura
