my first time posting & I am a little mad...
HI all NC people!
My name is Amanda and I live in Raleigh NC. I went to the seminar at Dr Morans office on July 4th. I then had my first consult on July 26 ( I think) and then on Aug 13th (two weeks ago) I did the barium swallow, nutrition and pysch consult at which time I was told that it would take about a week for the results to get back to my doctor and they would call me. Last week I got a call from the surgeon's office asking me about my pysch consult and where I had it done?? I had it done at their office, with their person!! I was then informed that oh the pysch had not done it yet and that everything was waiting on her to turn in the report. The lady then tells me that it will be next week before she turns it in. Today (exactly two weeks later) I call and I am told that they still don't have it, the pysch is in the office and she will ask for it again but it will probably be end of this week or maybe next week! My surgery is waiting on this and this is the answer I get. I am pissed! I am in school and I work full time and it is just really important to get this done ASAP and planned out well because of my schedule. Has anyone on here used Dr Moran and if so what was your overall experience?
Thanks,
Amanda

Hey, Amanda - I wish I had some advice that could help you, but the only thing I can do is listen and say, I know how FRUSTRATING it can be waiting on paperwork and other peoples' priorities. If there is a clinical manager for the office, or if you can speak with the Dr. himself, maybe someone can put some calm but firm pressure on the psychologist who did your evaluation.
Hang in there. It may be frustrating now, but once it all goes through, it'll be worth the wait.

Amanda, I don't have Dr. Moran, but the same thing happened to me here with my psych. They just don't understand!!!!!!!! I'd call them everyday and tell them you keep getting promised and put off and see if someone has a sympathetic ear.......well, it worked for me, lol. Good luck and hang in there..do you ever think the psych's are out to MAKE us crazy? lol.

Thanks ladies! I keep telling myself that it will all be worth it but right now, it is just so frustrating. I was just so excited at the thought of having it in Sept. (which is what I was told before) and now September is just a few days away! I am still very scared about the surgery and afraid I won't be able to eat anything. I have such a strong gag reflex. In fact, when I did the barium swallow I threw up twice during the procedure!! Horrible!
Nancy, the psych's are definitely out there to make us crazy!

Mandy, you are going through what so many of us have gone through too.
It is frustrating as it can be.
One thing I can tell you is you have to stay on top of it all and this may mean several phone calls and always get copies of reports.
I had to fax lots of my own stuff just so I knew when it was done and to whom.
I always tell people the paper chase is worse than the surgery.

Amanda.
Unfortunately the process seems to be frustrating to everyone and at different points of the process... I had everything *done* when I went for my educational class on June 10 - then my chart was *misplaced* for 3 weeks and delayed my surgery date, too. I stayed on top of calling and I wanted to cry when I finally was given an appt on August 6. 2 months of waiting!
I would suggest getting to know that office manager real well. That was probably my lifesaver. I called her several times and she worked from her end of the management. I feel that she pushed my surgery through. And I told her I felt that I had been cheated out of at least 3 weeks of happiness!
I know nothing of Dr. Moran. Just know that getting thru the paperwork is a matter of perseverance and you will soon be on the loser's bench.
Take care,
Shelia
