WOW moments!

Well i went to my PCP yesterday and nurse took my BP which was 102/66.  The doc took it when she came in and it was 110/70.  This is awesome considering just six months ago it was 140/90 with meds and i have been off of them a few months.   I also had my cholesterol checked for the first time since surgery.  For the past 20 years it has been anywhere between 200 and 249.....ta da...drum roll please.....it is now an awesome 175 and all of the other cholesterol numbers are also normal!!!  Talk about a big motivation!!

Now if I could just get rid of the 8 to 10 cigs i have a day, i will be ecstatic.   Told my husband he may have to go to his sister's house for a week while i withdraw so i don't kill him.   I can't take Chantix anymore as i tried it after my surgery and got severe cramping..even when trying to take it with food.  I am just gonna have to get p.o'd enough and just do it.   I won't even buy a carton anymore as i feel as i am on the road to a break through to quit.

Just wanted to thank you all again for your awesome support and inspiration.

Love you all,

Pam

While i have had numerous WOW moments, i think this one has been the best as my health is obviously much better and will only improve as the scale goes down further.   I quit smoking for months before surgery using the chantix and will have to do on my own now.   I am hoping it will be a little easier since I did not get back to my original pack a day and am about half that.   Anyone want to take my hubby for a week so i don't kill him?   He does do laundry and some housework!  lol

Take care and thanks, Pam

It's a wonderful thing ! I too have had a major drop in BP and my Diabetes is gone. It just blows my mind how we can start to get our health back in such a short time. Thats why I had surgery not because of my looks but because of my failing health. Hat's off to you ! You have done wonderfuly

Not buying the carton at a time is a great start. I don't know what cigerettes cost these days but what if instead of buying the cigerette pack you put that exact same amount of money away each time you would have bought them and see how much you save in a month or two. I bet you could get a really classy outfit in a nice smaller size. Just an idea.

Hey Ann:

I really wish that could work but with a cig addict...it wouldn't make a difference as i will just buy both.   I just have to get the right moment and do it.   The problem is i have quit many times and sometimes as long as a year.  I just need not pick up that social cig once i quit.   Will see how i am this weekend as a 3 day weekend may be a good start and hubby works on monday so he can escape me..lol.

Thanks for the support my friend!

I hear you. I am an ex smoker. I gave it up about 28.5 years ago and the only reason I think I was able to not go back to it is because I made some major life changes at the time. I was married to a non smoker for one. I got pregnant and began having kids with him and well I guess I was able to avoid 'needing' a smoke long enough that I would never start now. I do notice that coffee was one of my triggers and I also gave up that as well at that time. Plus none of my new social crowd smoked and I didn't want to smoke around my children.
