BIG WEDDING SURPRISE!

I was on my way to Charleston Friday to direct my niece's wedding when I received a frantic call from my father.  He was demanding to know why he wasn't told that my middle daughter (age 29)  was getting married.  She has been engaged for over a year and due to family politics just could not decide when, where, and how they were going to get married.  I told him I didn't know anything about wedding plans and he informed me that he had just received an announcement in the mail.  It  appears that she and her fiance eloped to Cancun, Mexico and were married on Thursday.  They timed their announcements to arrive after their wedding.  The only problems was that the key people (mothers) did not get their information before everyone else.  Both mothers were actually told by other family membes *****ceived their announcements early in the day.   Megan and Jason arrived at my niece's wedding not expecting everyone to know about their marriage.   My brother-in-law paid them back with a very heartfelt toast at the wedding reception after he had toasted his daughter and her groom.  Nothing like being put on the spot when you are least expecting it.  I am so happy for them both.  It was disappointing not to be there but I am proud that they found a way to have the wedding of their dreams.   Now, all three of my girls are married to wonderful men and I have grandbabies to spoil.  Now that I have had surgery I have the energy and the time to spoil them rotten.  Ain't God Great!

Looks like we have another reason to schedule some scrapbooking time! We can share family photos of the respective weddings ... Your nieces and any photos of your daughter's that she's shared with you. I'll bring whatever I'll have from our pending nuptuals and we can both laugh and cry together.

Warmest congratulations to you and yours on this blessed event.

Hugs,

Barb

Kids, they're just full of surprises aren't they?  My son and wife went off to Las Vegas and got married 2 years ago, no one was invited to come, at first i was hurt since he was my first to get married, but we gathered around the computer and watched the wedding on the web!  Even my then 94 year old grandmother was there to watch.  Now, in retrospect and having been part of planning/directing 3 niece's weddings this year, I'm happy that Dale went to Vegas and it only cost me the $$ we gave them as a wedding present and I sent them flowers!  I've been joking with my daughter about going to vegas to get married but she assures me that I won't get off that easy with her!!!  I keep telling her I need that $$ for my plastic surgery

Enjoy your new son-in-law!

Paula:

Congratulations! I know you are happy that you have gained a wonderful new son-in-law. I hope all your girls have VERY successful and happy fulfilling marriages! Are you back in school yet? Have the kids started? Ours came back yesterday.

sounds like a good way to get married to me. Donnie and I went to SC by ourselves and got married. It must have worked out ok ....we have been married around 28 years. We did not want to deal with Wedding issues. I did make him talk to my parents so they would know what we were doing. I am happy to hear you say wonderful men.  It is so rewarding to have son in laws that you can treat as sons. Neither of my daughters are married yet (one is only 16 so it will be a while) My oldest is the closest and I really like her boyfriend. I hope it all works out for your family.

Hey Paula!

Congratulations on yor new SIL!  And on getting to spoil some grandbabies!  It sounds like a lovely wedding.  When I got married this last time (2nd) we went o Vegas and got married, and all our friends and family watched it on the computer!  It was so COOL!  And we got married at 10:30 in the morning so they could all watch it here around lunchtime.  And heck I loved it because I was back at the hotel, out of my dress and sipping an icy cold adult beverage before noon!

Yep, God is truly great!!!  Congrats again!  Hope to see you at the meeting in September!
