I have BCBSNC and personally have to pay the surgeon $3,900 before surgery.  That's a $2,500 deductible plus 20%.

I have bcbs and I didn't have to pay a dime the day of surgery.  We were told that I would have to pay $300 (for my deductible) the day of surgery, but I had already met that by then.  My entire surgery was only $1500.

The best thing to do is call the insurance company and they will tell you approximately how much you should have to pay.

AS far as I know I will only pay the copays and the hospital deductible. Each plan is so different.

I called and talked to the lady at Blue Cross for a verry long time. I live in Clyde NC and work in Asheville. I originally wanted to do the surgery at Mission but there was a lot of fees that Mission charges that are not covered by the insurance. She also recommended choosing a hospital that is a surgery of center of excellence because they have been approved by blue cross and have done a certain amount of surgeries to get the center of excellence.

I have the BCBSNC Blue Options I think and my OOP is $700 plus whatever the copays are for all the docs visits. The $700 is split between the Hospital, Anesthesiologist and the Surgeon. I understand all plans are different depending the company you work for or whatever the source is.
