I think I'm grumpy!
And I think my family would vouch for it! Ha!
I have said all along I'm probably going to be a royal grump on my 10-14 day pre-op protein shake fast. I've done Slim-Fast enough times in my life to KNOW it. So last week I started replacing breakfast with a protein shake to prepare for what's ahead and I did real well. Decided to go ahead and start doing it for lunch also this week (trying to get in a shake at 7am, 10:30am, & 2pm). Yep, this is now just enough meal replacement to send me into grump mode. Goodness help us when it's nothing but! Hopefully it will get easier.
I'm also sore as the dickens. For someone who mostly supervised this weekend's outside work, it doesn't make a whole lot of sense! I must say "we" got a ton accomplished. I was ready for bed at 5pm last night and I can tell my head is going to want to hit the pillow early again tonight.
Hubby's at the store right now getting stuff to grill. My grumpy shake-only-so-far-today belly is READY!
Hope everyone else has had a fun, possibly productive, weekend!

Shauna,
Your posts always have some humor in them !
The liquid diet is hard - You can also have V8 (I liked mine heated), broth, sugar free jello, sugar free popsicles. And you could take the vanilla Slim Fast and add 1/2 banana or strawberries and blend for a smoothie. Variety helps me to get thru the day.
Good luck - it will get easier.
And I worked this weekend and it was good. I am on soft foods now - Yea !

Shelia,
I am going to grab some of the things you suggested TODAY! I just drank my second shake for the day and I feel okay. I think it's either because I'm doped up on Benedryl, thanks to all the dern skeeters that bit the dickens outta my legs while working outside over the weekend, or I am adjusting to it on day 3. I hope it's the latter! I know I will love a cup of warm broth or V8 to sip on during the day so that will be just the ticket. I was down a bit more on the scale today. Knowing I have to weigh-in at the dr.'s office on Wednesday is a great motivator!
So work went good for you?! Hurray! That is wonderful. Your coworkers are going to have fun witnessing the unfolding of the new and improved Shelia! Enjoy the soft foods, girl. You've earned them! {{{Hugs}}}

I can tell you SO know where I'm coming from! lol Thank goodness I don't have my cycles anymore or this would just be out of the question. I'd for sure have to schedule the 10-14 day fast and surgery around my cycle I'm afraid! 1 psycho + 1 psycho = UT OH!!! hehehe
I've warned my family about the possibility of living with a mean, hateful monster during the pre-op and initial post-op diets. I not only need time to prepare, I think they do also!
Thanks for the well-wishes!

When you get your pouch liquids and soft foods will make you happy.
I still find it amazing at how my mind still thinks "I can eat this amount no problem"once I start eatting I fill up fast.
Sometimes I have to take a break and can eat a little more but hardly ever finish what I put on my small plate.
The bulldogs are always waiting to see what goodies mommie has for them.

Annie, That is exactly what hubby was telling me yesterday. "You have to remember that after surgery, you're not going to have the big stomach you have now..." Evil eye, evil eye!!! lol But he is right. I will have my pouch and it WILL be easier then. If I don't do a semi-liquid fast leading up though, I'm afraid the total liquid fast will be much harder for me. And I am glad to be losing some weight pre-op. Can't wait to be where you are and fill up quickly. My little Madeline is going to be a real begger if I start giving her my leftovers!
Hi Shauna,
Keep in mind Little Madeline will sometimes get very grumpy and sometimes will make horride sounds LOL
I swear I think my pouch is getting smaller LOL
BTW do you remeber the delightful story books about Madeline?
I admit I am having a very nice day but still have done some running around had to go to HTand bought some of the fruit and nut chicken salad.
A pound was on sale and I was ready to buy the pound but had to stop myself because Lee isnt a chicken fan so I just bought half a pound and will get at least 3 meals out of that.

Annie,
That is who we named Madeline (our havanese/lhasa apso) after...the Madeline in the story books! So cool you noticed. Her name is actually Madeline Blue..."Blue" after Blue's Clues also...and I call her Maddie. Can you tell our little boy had a hand in naming her?!
One of the things I'm looking forward to post-op is making tasty meals stretch into several tasty meals! Your chicken salad sounds so good. The family loves it when I make a big batch for them. I put in red onion, celery, walnuts, red apples, red grapes, sometimes raisins instead. I'm going to whip up some tuna salad later today for daughter's school lunch. When hearing that, my little man said, "Mom, boil me up a couple of eggs to take too!"
