Slightly OT-Job Interview

Hey Folks,

Haven't posted in a while, but I come and read almost everyday!  Just to catch up, I'm almost 6 months out and I've lost 103 pounds...still hard to beleive.  Ok, about the interview:

I have been considering for the past couple of months picking up a little part time work to supplement our income and pay off a few bills (medical-whew!-different story).  Well, job interviews have always made me nervous.  Not because I don't think I'm marketable or "good enough", but because I always felt prejudged by my appearance.  Well, fast forward to 2 days ago, I walked in (totally unlike me) to a business that I had always found interesting, but had no experience in.  I asked if they were needing any part time help and he went to go get his manager.  This was different than any other job inquiry/interview I had ever had and I can't help but think it had something to do with the fact that I'm no longer the "fat guy" looking for a job.  Well, the manager took me back to the office and told me that she's "so glad I came by".  She went on to tell me that in this type of business "image means so much, and I don't get very many people like you coming by".  I seriously almost looked behind me to make sure there wasn't another dude standing behind me!  LOL  I have never been told that I fit a favorable "image" in my life, never...ever...ever......ever,ever.  Well, I was offered the job and I'll probably start on my days off next week, I can't wait!  It just goes to show how much talent is lost because people can't look beyond a few extra pounds.

Congratulations on the job, the weight loss and the success in believing in yourself enough to take that step off the cliff and do something new and outside your comfort zone.  Isn't it amazin' what a big difference that outward appearance makes?

Woo hoo Jason!!!

You goooooo!!!!!  Be proud, stand up straight and go get em!!!  You need to start knowing you deserve it, you deserved it before but like you said sometimes people just don't look beyond those extra pounds!  UGH!!!!  Maybe you'll have the opportunity to educate them later on!

Jason,
This is wonderful news.
I think that for so long when we are obese we tend to carry around a dark cloud that many of us hide behind we loose our sense of self.
Sounds like to me your sense of self is shinning through and others can see it.
Congratulations on your new job.

Thanks everybody!  I'm really excited.  It's not huge money, but it's in a field that I really enjoy.  Plus, it's just a side hustle so no big deal if I don't haul in the cash!  I just really need to get out of the house on my days off so I don't get the urge to eat everything in sight!  One thing that I really didn't think about until AFTER I was offered the job:  I don't have ANY clothes to wear!  I wear a uniform at my main job, so I haven't really bought a whole lot of dress/business clothes.  Wonder if I can wear my shorts and flipflops?  LOL
