Iron Sulfate Elixir (ferrous) and update
So, one of the many vitamins that my doc has me on is this Iron Sulfate Elixir. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to take this other than straight up. It is the most horrible thing. It's like putting a bunch of pennies in my mouth and sucking on them. Gross!
My post op visit with my doc when well on Monday. I've lost 21.5 lbs, they went ahead and placed me on the soft food diet and took me off my BP medicine. My BP was 103/68 went I went. Which honestly could have been the problem last week when I was feeling really light headed because I was on my high bp medicine then.
I'm tolerating everything really well actually. I haven't had any nausea with anything that I've eaten and I've always had the ability to get nauseated really easy. It may change as I try harder things. I'm walking 2+ miles a day and every time gets easier.
I seemed to be stuck at 21.5 lbs for the last few days since I have started eating soft foods and of course I start thinking "What if this is it". I'm sure however that won't be the case.
Okay so any suggestions on the elixir? I tried disguising it in my applesause but it was still horrible.
Take care everyone, Angie

Sorry that I'm no help on the vitamins but it sounds like your appointment went wonderfully. I'm 1 1/2 lbs behThe 2.5 miles is wonderful. I haven't been looking to see how far I've walked, I'm aiming for 30 minutes everyday and honestly it has gotten easier already so once that becomes a daily ritual I'll up my time and intensity.

Hi Angie, I did the same thing at 2 weeks out. Stayed at about 25 lbs lost for 10 days!! I didn't freak out because I knew, physiologically, that I HAD to lose weight eventually -- only eating 600 calories a day, etc. Anyway, after the 10-day stall I started losing again, and have lost at a fairly steady pace for the past 3 months. Now I know that when I hit another stall (and I'm sure that I will), I'll survive :) Laura
Angie - you are doing great! I such wish I could disguise exercise! But I don't have any suggestions on the iron... It is nasty stuff - did your doc say how long you were going to have to take it??
I think one of the biggest fears that we all have is *what if this fails?* But the thing that brings me around is the fact that so many people have succeeded and I know I can be one of them... So no you are not stuck at 21.5 pounds ! It takes some time for our bodies to adjust to the changes. Keep up the good work - you are doing awesome!
