OMG the frustration!!!! (sorry long)
Ok I have a surgery date of the 5th of September but I am still waiting on insurance (tricare) approval which has been taking longer than usual. So I go in for my pre-op appt. and come to find out that there was an infarction (sp) on my EKG. So now tricare wants me to go to a cardiologist to get another EKG for a second opinion and for them to clear me for surgery. So I have an appt. next Monday in Greeneville at 1:30. The nurse said she sures its nothing since I am only 26 and healthy. The only problem that i have is Degenerative Disc Disease. Nothing that affects my heart. So after the appt. they will send the results to tricare and they will have only a short time to approve me. My Doc says that he will let me save that date until the 4th, if they do no hear anything back from tricare by the 4th then they will have to reschedule!! ( I have my sis coming from tx to help out and school starts a week after i have surgery so this is a perfect date for me) I have been through so many hurdles since I started this journey but I will know this will all be worth it in the end. I have to start my 2 week liquid diet on the 22nd...so I am really hoping that everything goes well to where I will not have to reschedule and redo my liquid diet. So PLEASE I need all the prayers I can get for a clear EKG and approval. Thanks for letting me vent.

Amanda,
I know you are frustrated and feeling scared. I just went thru an abnormal upper GI last week - the day before my surgery was scheduled. I had an EGD done before they would band me.
Did they give you any more information on the EKG - like it shows ST elevation or a heart block?
To put your mind at ease - different placement of the electrodes will make a difference in the EKG.
Monday seems forever a way, but it will go fast. In the meantime, do you know a paramedic who could do an EKG with their lifepak??

They did not tell me anything other than that either it was incorrect reading or abnormal but did not go into depth about it. Im really not worried about just bc I have not had any problems with my heart. I wish I did know a paramedic so I can get it done faster so the insurance can get it faster. But oh well. Hopefully the week will go by fast.

Amanda - I will say a prayer for you, but I bet it works out ok just like it is planned. I know you don't want to bug the insurance company, but a sickly sweet call placed to their customer service probably wouldn't hurt either. I have my fingers crossed for you. I know how long you've been working on this. September 5th is so close!!
