after surgery foods
Hi Shonte,
Unfortunately, even though you may get a lot of responses, they may not do you much good unless they come from others that have had your surgeon because probably one of the biggest variable from practice to practice is the the early dietary guidelines and you really need to follow what your practice has you do. For example, I had my surgery at Duke and was restricted to clear liquids and protien drinks for the first 3.5 weeks, while my friend had hers at UNC Chapel Hill and was able to have whatever she could tolerate immediately. Almost all will want you to have a high protien, soft diet to start, but how soon new foods are introduced and what types are introduced is going to vary widely.
If you'd like to see what my diet looked like early on, please feel free to go to my profile and check the posts during the first month.
Good luck,
Barb
